| Posted: | | | | I'm auditing Creepshow 2 and just came across Stephen King's credit for writing. It reads: "Based on Stories by Stephen King"
Current credit is OMB which I think is right because I know for a fact these are based on some of his short stories, either from Night Shift, Nightmares and Dreamscapes or Backman Books, I read them when I was a kid is the bottom line.
I ask since it says "stories" on the screen, I could see an arguement for "Story by". So whenever in doubt, ask.
OMB or Story By? What say you(s)? |

"Story By" means that the person wrote the actual story specific to that film that the screenwriters used to write the screenplay.
That does not appear to be the case here. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

I guess they used the generic word "stories" simply for the fact that the original material is in more than one format (novels + short stories) | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. (Bender Bending Rodriguez) |

| Posted: | | | | While not in the crew table,"based on something" is always OMB or OCB. But to be safe literally according to the rules "Based on stories by" should actually get listed in the table or functional equivalents should be allowed. |

That does not appear to be the case here. Agree with this. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I figured OMB was the way to go, as stories was just refering to the OMB which was short stories. Thanks for all the replies, it's been submitted. |

| Posted: | | | | Since I don't want to open yet another thread about writing questions I'm using one of bigdaddyhorse's older ones. Even a thorough search didn't bring up any results, so my simple question is: Where do we stand on 1. "Developed for the Television by": "Created by" or no entry? 2. "Written for the Televison by": "Writer" or "Screenwriter"? Thanks for any opinions! | | | Michael |
