| Posted: | | | | I am updating Dumbo and have a few credit questions.
Writers: "Based on the book by Helen Aberson and Henry Pearl" > OMB.
These people are presently credited incorrectly as OMB and need to be changed/removed:
"Screen story by": Joe Grant and Dick Huemer: Screenwriter or Story by?
"Story direction": Otto Englander: Writer or no credit?
Art:
Would you credit Creature Design? I thought Character Design would be appropriate. Yes or no? | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | In my opinion: Screen story by = story by Story direction = no credit Character Design = No credit (although I would have loved to include it. That is the one credit I miss a lot) | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity |

| Posted: | | | | I personally think that Screen Story By = Screenwriter, as the story wasn't written by Joe Grant and Dick Huemer; they just adapted the source material, but by Helen Aberson and Henry Pearl who wrote the book (apparently: - I don't have the title myself, this is just my inference of the information provided). | | | DVD Blu-Ray LastFM |

Completely agree! But be aware that "screen story by" is not listed in the rules and have to go as a direct translation of "sceenwriter" until functional equivalents will be allowed. |

| Posted: | | | | Screen=screenwriter unless there's also a different screenwriter listed, IMHO. |

You were so anxious to get your 'funtional equivalent' mantra out there that, it seems, you forgot to actually check the crew chart. I just had a look, because it was leaning towards 'screenwriter' as well, and found this... Under the Profiler role of 'Story by' the following credits are listed: Story by, Story Created by, Screen Story by. I guess we have our answer. I never noticed that. Thank you everybody for the input - I've removed the Creature Design and adjusted the writing credits. |

As I said, I was leaning towards screenwriter, I had the post written, but something told me I had better look before I hit 'submit'. Glad I did. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. I guess we have our answer. I wasn't anxious! But as you have stated yourself, you haven't noticed until now. Kathy did the same and so was I. Usually I check the rule chart before posting. This time I didn't. But my point about functional equivalents still stands of course. Just not for this special credit. But we have discussed a lot of specific credits where the basic consensus has been to add them even so that specific variant is not listed in the chart exactly like this. Deciding by function of a job whether it is allowed or not instead of looking only at the spelling just makes more sense IMO. And I'm sure this is not only my opinion and sooner or later Invelos will agree. | | | Last edited: by RHo |
