The 50 Worst Movies Ever... according to Empire. I've only seen a few movies from this list. Does that mean that I have good taste?

I saw only a dozen of them. Unfortunately, I saw many movies that are far worse than the worst I saw in this list.

Voting for the worst movie ever made is silly. The worse a movie is, the fewer people get to see it. Chances are that if one could actually compile a list of the 50 truly worst movies, none of you would have seen a single one of them.

Are these 50 actually worse than Godmonster of Indian Flats or Hookers in a Haunted House?

Seen:
Spider-Man 3
Soul Plane
Howard the Duck
Year One (waiting for me at library, havent' seen yet though but close enough)
Van Helsing (this belongs on the worst list)
Superman 4
Dungeons and Dragons (thankfully completely forgettable!)
Pink Panther 2
Street Fighter (need to try again, can't recall much as I was young and high)
Speed 2 - deserves to be here
Freddy got Fingered - another thankfully forgettable, although i think I laughed a few times
Disaster Movie, Epic Movie (waiting for library, but will try it)
Avengers (Uma looked great, the film sucked huge)
Meet the Spartans - Probably the best spoof flick since the second Scary Movie, made me laugh enough to like but not enough to buy.
Highlander 2 (I did own this at one time, but can't stand. Love teh first film, this is just bad.)
Batman and Robin (yeah, this sucked)

Own and Love:
House of the Dead (just a beautifil trainwreck that gets funnier every time I watch. Made me full-blown Uwe-phile, watch at least once a year for laughs. So bad it's awesome!)

White Chicks - don't know why, but this a favorite for me and my girl. Bad idea? oh yeah, Funny as all hell? you bet! Try it. Terry Crews is so funny.

Scary Movie (how can this be on the list? great spoof despite the week sequels)

Dreamcatcher - First half was great and I still like the rest. Don't understand the hate this gets.

Showgirls

Howard the Duck (but don't love [except for Lea Thompson in underware], own a HD2DVD custom I
got from a torrent)

Blade-Trinity (least favorite Blade film, but not that horrid)

Matrix Revolutions (don't love)

Max Payne (I'll try all the comic and video game films, this is what I get for that)

Eragon

Ultraviolet (don't love, but dubbed before watching and haven't thrown out, yet. Milla keeps me holding on, that's it)

Southland Tales (went way down on second viewing though, 3rd will either have me sell it or keep it)

Transformers 2 (hated the first when in theater, loved the blu-ray from library. Don't own either yet, but soon as I see em both for cheap enough I will)

Jaws: The Revenge - love some cheesy shark flicks and this set the mold!

Alone in the Drak - UWE! UWE! UWE! Not nearly as great as House of the Dead, but Tara Red as a scientist ("just put glasses on her to make her look smart", quote from commentary!) too fun.

Love Guru - Just plain funny. Jacques "The Cock" just killed it along with stinky mop. Guess I have bad taste, or maybe everyone else is wrong.

Honorable mentions:
Son of the Mask - first was so bad and I was hyped for that being a fan of the comic series it was based on. The movie missed the whole point and I never bothered to watch a second time. Trailers for this looked like worst movie ever to me

The Spirit - Still waiting for the library... oh shoot, I never requested it. must be a reason...

Glitter - one of very few films i will not ever think to try ever, along with Honey, Gigli and Swept Away

Plan 9 from Outer Space - not sure how, but I have managed to never see this. Part due to hearing how bad it is, part due to hoping it's so bad it's great like House of the Dead, part laziness.

Catwoman - wow, just wow. First of all, I love the trailer where they take the Crow's tagline and insert "cat" in place of "crow", reminds me of those Simpsons jokes where someone tries to inssert what hey want something to say, but it just doesn't fit or work. The film was the biggest mess I've ever seen, no wonder there's no title on blu-ray spine!

Norbit - Watched from library, not sure why the hate. It was stupid and all that, but kinda charming and made me bust out laughing more than once. Will try again but doesn't fit either catergory yet.

The Happening - I got a laugh or 5 in the theater and dubbed it but haven't gave it a second try yet. Girlfriend won't bother so I must find a spot to watch again.

Battlefield Earth - I want this to suck in ways probably not possible, so I haven't watched in fear of being let down. You can only hear something is the worst movie ever so many times before believeing it. last time I heard reviews like this was House of the Dead..

and the list fails to include 2 of teh worst things I've ever had teh displeasure of sitting through. From both ends of teh film spectrum, my top 2 worst movies ever:

Vicious. Get a big-name effects guy, and make him act. Meanwhile give us unfinished cgi along with no story. Put in blender and spew. The best thing about this movie was the dvd lied, saying it had all kinda of extra features but not having any. This saved me $5, as K-Mart saw it as a legit reason to return despite being open. My 88 minutes will never come back, but my money did! But, this had an excuse, no budget.

Worst ever, by a mile in my book:
Rush Hour 3. What the f**k happened here? I wasn't a huge fan of the first 2, but saw them both and laughed plenty in each, almost bought them...
This gave me one, count it, one small chuckle in over 90 minutes. Hard to pull off with Chris Tucker who is one of the funniest people on the planet (at least until this pile of film he was) and a huge budget. All I could think when I got done watching was, "wow, that was so bad I want slap Brent Ratner's mother". I have never felt close to that before.

While I agree with some of theses , there are mant I don't.  I own about half of theses.  By the way the author obviously has  a lot of prjudice against scfi, horror, fantasy, slap stick somedy and comics.  On a side note I love Superman 4.

I'd like to say that I hate to admit that I'm a big fan of bad movies, but I've said it too many times. With two exceptions, these are the worst 50 films that today's teenagers can think of. Teenagers with zero concept that any film was ever made before they were born. Where is Robot Monster, That Hagen Girl, Dondi, At Long Last Love, Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla, The Big Noise, Change of Habit, Goodbye Charlie, The Horror of Party Beach, the 1973 version of Lost Horizon, The Oscar, Santa Claus (also Santa Claus Conquers the Martians), Skidoo, The Conqueror, Last Year at Marienbad, Parnell, Swing Your Lady, Superstooges Versus the Wonderwomen? (Just to name a few.)

I mean, Change of Habit? Elvis as a doctor? Mary Tyler Moore as a nun? They fall in love and make googoo eyes at each other? Ewwwwww....
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Quote:
Am i the only one who thought The Happening was a really good movie?

yes, yes you are.

Never saw:
Town and Country
Parting Shots
Son of the Mask - I refused to see this
House of the Dead
Streetfighter
Glitter
Speed 2
Jaws: The revenge
Alone in the Dark
Swept Away
Gigli
Dreamcatcher
White Chicks - I also refused to see this
Plan 9 from Outer Space - Pull the String!
Disaster Movie - I am assuming it was as bad as the trailers looked
Norbit - Does Eddie Murphy in yet another fat suit seem like a good idea to anybody?
Meet The Spartans
The Room
Sex Lives of the Potato Men - wtf?
Heaven's Gate
Raise the Titanic

Have seen:
Soul Plane - Just dreadful
Howard the Duck - I remember not liking this as a kid in the theatre, have not seen it since
Blade Trinity - not good
Year One - really not good
Dungeons and Dragons - oh yeah, this blew
Max Payne - it kept my attention while I was watching it...
I Know Who Killed Me - Holy crap this was bad, although I spent most of the movie giggling...
The Pink Panther 2 - why why why did I go see this?
Scary Movie - Funny Stuff... too bad its many imitators have killed the genre
The Sweetest Thing - a really unfunny girl-com
Freddy Got Fingered - Made me ill, it was so unfunny - closest I have ever come to walking out of a theatre
Catwoman - I was hoping this would be funny-bad, but it was just plain-old bad.
Avengers - This was almost as big a disapointment as the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Highlander 2: The Quickening - How do you ruin a good movie? Make a bad sequel.
The Happening - Guess what, The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable WERE just flukes.
Epic Movie - I downloaded this to my ipod (for free) and watched it in 5 minute increments while on the Metro.
Battlefield Earth - Another Hollywood betrayal of great source material.
Batman and Robin - I felt bad for Clooney, but this was absolutely excremental

Own:
Spider-man 3 - Extremely uneven, but the Sandman stuff was great.
Showgirls - Its awsome. My copy came with a pin the pastie on the stripper game and shot glasses.
The Matrix Revolutions - Still had some cool visual moments - Agent Smith looked like Black Adam
Van Helsing - it should have been cool damnit
Superman IV - I try so hard to like it - still it is miles better that Star Trek V (how is that not on this list?)
Eragon - A bigger Star Wars rip-off I have never seen - it came packaged with my blu-ray player
Ultraviolet - I kinda like it
The Spirit - I kinda didn't like it, a blind buy that I regret
Southland Tales - Whacked out bizarroland crazy-a$$ed awesomeness
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - It entertains me
The Love Guru - Maybe you have to be Canadian to apreciate it, but I thought this was frickin hysterical.

Seen:
Howard the Duck (not nearly as bad as they say)
Dungeons and Dragons (OMG, so bad ... my opinion not helped by playing the game since '82)
Highlander 2: The Quickening  (saw it twice ... not particularly good, but nowhere near as bad as the D&D movie)

Own, but haven't watched yet:
Ultraviolet
Max Payne
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Worst Movie Ever, IMO:
Genocyber

Also Really Bad:
Fencer of Minerva
Cybernetics Guardian
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True (and just about every other Disney sequel)
The Swan Princess (love my best friend's quote for this one "it made me want to carve out my own eyes and stuff them in my ears")

I can think of a number of other movies I disliked, but I'm not sure I would classify them as bad movies.  I know lots of people who like them and think they're good, so those are just taste I think.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

The problem that I have with that list is that most of these movies seem to be mainstream. Yes, many of them aren't good but I've seen a lot worse films than those on the list. If this list could be called anything then "Worst 50 films ever made of which at least a reasonable number of people have heard of"

Let's just take any American Ninja movie or Kickboxer or Missing in Action, where are those on the list?

I also thought The Happening was a most excellent movie, right up to but not including the end.

But you can't blame him for his prejudice, it's the result of a user poll.

I enjoyed Van Helsing and Transformers 2 as well.

Own:
Spider-Man 3: OK, quite boring, but not that bad.
Blade Trinity: Certainly worse that Blade 1 or 2, but still enjoyable
Dungeons & Dragons: Love the dragons
Max Payne: I like that one very much
Ultraviolet: But Milla is there...
Scary Movie: This is great, you cannot blame it for the sequels
Southland Tales: Not great, but still quite good
The Sweetest Thing: Loved it the 1st time I saw it, hope the 2nd viewing won't disappoint me
The Happening: Luckily it was a present, thinking I could have spent money for this...
Batman and Robin: Yes, it's bad, but there is Alicia Silverstone, and Batman, and I've seen more that 50 films that are much worse!

Seen:
The Matrix Revolutions: Yes
Van Helsing: Quite OK popcorn movie, there are a lot worse ones
The Spirit: OK, I will never see it again, but there are many many worse movies out there
Speed 2: Yes
Alone in the Dark: Yes
Dreamcatcher: Boring, but... OK
Catwoman: Halle Berry looked great but not great enough to save it
Heaven's Gate: What??? Need to buy it...
The Avengers: Light years below Emma Peel, but still better than many others

So, I own 10 of the list - either the list of candidates was very short or the other movies on it all pretty good; also where are the other Uwe Boll films?

Interesting list. Why Spider Man 3 was in that i don't know it was bloody mess of to many characters and a poor scrip with an awful. Maxtrix Revolutions ok through everything from revolution out the window but still nto a bad film.

Scary Movie just what was wrong with that it was fun film if anything Not Another Teen Movie was worse but still even that was a decent film with it's emphasis on humouring racial stereotypes within films such as the token black guy lol.

Southland Tales should have been in the top 5 OMFG is that terrible film it's almost unmatchable. Like you look at the cast in it and you know how this film came together. Richard Kelly tells a bunch of morons with delusions that they have talent im working on a great new project cause no one with a brain would want to star in this turd.

So like the half witted morons they are The Rock Sean W Scott Sarah M Gellar and Justin Timberlake buy into this rubbish thinking there going to make a great art epic about post 9/11 America and get some respect cause the dude that made Donnie Darko is making it.

Just look at the interviews on Youtube they don't have clue. But don't worry im sure they will all be alright as there all pimps

Battlefield Earth i think should have been number 1. Cavemen flying F1's enough said.

Does anyoen else think it odd that out of the 50 worst movies of all time, only three are over 20 years old? (And only 1 is over 20 years old). This list is heavily biased toward recent studio releases.
