Is the $39.99 for all three or $39.99 each?

According to their site, it's each.

They do have a 3 pack for $279.99 though!

They do this all the time...which annoys me no end.  Why would I spend $280 for the set, when I can buy them individually for $40 each?  $40 x 3 = $120, not $279.99.

They had the Bourne trilogy on sale, last week, for $15 each.  I was going to buy them, but they only had two of the three.  They did, however, have the box set...for $89.99.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

It is odd I agree but I can see how it would happen with automatic stock level analysis etc.; as it happens in the UK we've got the opposite with this with each title going for about £9 at the cheapest but the 3-pack going for £18... it just pays to keep a sharp lookout. For example I was looking for the cheapest prices of Weeds on DVD for Seasons 1 and 2 and they were about £11 each... and I then happily noticed the combioned 1&2 pack was under £13

Why is this unfortuate? You have them, you have been able to enjoy them, you've all ready paid for them, now it saves you $120+tax.

Sure, maybe you paid more for them, just as a new car costs more when it is first released, but you get it and get to use it. If you can afford it, why deny yourself the pleasure of it? If you cannot afford it... then you wait for the price to drop (which it always does).

I too paid more than $40 each for mine. I think they were $53 to $65 on Amazon when they were first released, but compared to $118 each (suggested retail price) with no sales tax on my purchase (not so at Best Buy), and the time the family has had to watch them, I regret nothing.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

That's why they have rainchecks!

About 2 months ago I went in the pick up Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles S2 for $19 (normally $45ish), but they were sold out.  I tracked down an employee, asked for a raincheck and got one, and picked it up 2 weeks later (and the cashier had no idea how to ring up the raincheck price!  )

I paid:

S1 - $64.99
S2 - $59.99
S3 - $52.99

I wanted them on the released date, so I paid what was being asked on the release date.  I have zero regrets about it.  Besides, it meant I could get rid of the 40 individual keepcases I used to have.

There are a number of series, including Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate and 24 (the later seasons) where I wanted them the minute they were available.  Price was not a consideration.

For everything else, I bargain shop.

I think I'll be getting season 1 & 3 (already have 2).  I was planning on picking one up this week, but at those prices I may be able to just get both of them.
