Good evening, Sirs,

for those who didn't watch it last night:

the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film has been given to "Das weiße Band - Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte".

Finally this ingenious, uncommon, deeply committed and highly recommended filmmaker has achieved the international recognition he deserves.

Congratulations, Michael Haneke!

Could you please state your source for this message???

The Academy Awards will be awarded on March 7th. Everything that is published earlier is hearsay at best.

No, I didn't watch it last night. I didn't know what channel your imagination was on.

BUT, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this was true next Sunday. It's a powerful film.

I didn't see it yet, but will have until Sunday.

Owning already 9 Hanekes I'm pretty sure I'll like this one as well. Provided Michael Haneke remained true to himself and his subcooled, precise and provoking style.

I have had it pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk for some time now. Release day is 10 days later, but the price is better and it will certainly have English subs, which for me is a must.

I was just coming to post this myself.  The Oscar, for Best Foreign Language Film, went to 'The Secret in Their Eyes (El Secreto de Sus Ojos).'
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

144 minutes, a german peasant village hundred years ago, black and white, no score, open end.

Haneke's most accessible film to date.
