How do I vote in this situation? The data being added is an improvement but the scans are not. Is it to vote negative and list why? (Will the invelos team then read the comments and make the decision as to whether to add the data / images or both?)

Thanks

The way I do it... If there is anything about the contribution that deserves a no vote... it gets a no vote. In the case of good data and bad scans I Vote No and put in the reason text box No to scans (plus reason)... Yes to Data.

In those cases I vote no saying something like "Yes to the data, no to the scans" and go on to say why I don't feel the scans are an improvement.

I do miss the days when we could vote separately for data and scans though!

This would be great.

Until then I do similar. If scan or data isn't an improvement I vote No with explanation. (And of course explanation what is Yes what No)

If the scans are bad, but the data is good, I either vote neutral or yes, and decline the scans when they come down.

To not have a line by line decline system is completely asinine.

I vote no and say why.  If the contributor is a good contributor, they'll see the votes, withdraw the submission and either fix the scans or recontribute without the scans.

Although I can understand why you might do it that way, by voting neutral, your opinion can't be taken into consideration. At least if you vote "Yes" you can still give a reason against the scan being accepted.

I agree about having separate sectional approve/declines but can also understand why Ken might not want to add them.

At least the good thing is they can (in cases such as this) approve the data and decline the images. So at least it is not all or nothing for data/scans contributions.

Most times I will go that way. But in a small number of cases the scans are not really much better but there is a huge improvement to the rest of the data. In that case it would get a Yes with notes explaining why and hopefully it would amount to the same thing.

It would add a lot of extra work to the Screeners if they could approve/decline each individual area. At the moment it's either all or nothing for the data sections. If someone's done a full audit, then instead of just declining all data, they might have to accept General, reject cast, accept crew, accept audio, reject features, etc... It will take more time to process each submission. If they have a lot of Screeners then the impact would be less than if they only have two, and we simply don't know how many people they have.

In my experience it is not an all or nothing for data and scans.

I have, on a rare occasion, had a contribution's data accepted and the scan declined.
