| Posted: | | | | Consensus needed! 'Apollo 13' poses a nice problem in that it has two credits for the same guy: Crew: Based on the Book "Lost Moon" by Jeffrey Kluger. Cast cameo (the other writer has a cameo too): Jeffrey S. Kluger as Science Reporter. These are the man's only credits in the entire database. Now: what's his common name? One title for Jeffrey Kluger, one for Jeffrey S. Kluger. There's nothing to act as a tiebreaker. So what do I do? Do I enter the OMB credit as "Jeffrey S. Kluger [Jeffrey Kluger]" and the cast credit as "Jeffrey S. Kluger", or is it the other way around, and do I enter the OMB credit as "Jeffrey Kluger" and the cast credit as "Jeffrey Kluger [Jeffrey S. Kluger]"? Help! |

since the material would have had to be written first, I would use that as the common name.

| Posted: | | | | As a tiebreaker I'd use the name printed on the book. The credits refer to this, so I can see no real harm done, at least it indicates in which way Mr. Kluger would like to be adressed in his "public life". (This would be Jeffrey Kluger, BTW) | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

This sounds like common sense I agree | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity |

| Posted: | | | | Considering that cast and crew credits don't link, I don't know if this is really needed. But, if your worried about future linking then I would go with Jeffrey S. Kluger as the common name. That way if there is ever another Jeffrey Kluger you won't have to use BY to determine which Jeffrey is which. | | | Are you local? Of course if there was ever another Jeffrey S. Kluger. However I'm not sure what is being accomplished here in the first place since currently there is only one Jeffrey "S." Kluger credited with the S. in the cast credits and without the S. in the crew credits and we don't have linking between the cast and crew credits. Unless that was added to the new version and I'm not aware of it. | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Tracer: Quote: we don't have linking between the cast and crew credits. But we've been told that this will happen at some point. We're doing this in other areas, too - for instance, Gerri Cole has specifically confirmed that we are to use birth years to distinguish between a cast and crew member with the same name. There as well, the argument that "it doesn't matter because they don't link yet anyway" could be made, but we're told to do so anyway. I for one hope that we get cast-crew-crosslinking real soon. |

| Posted: | | | | I for one was not arguing, just making an observation that the program currently doesn't support cast and crew linking.
On the issue of using the middle name as the common name chances are if there is ever another Jeffrey Kruger the likely hood of him having the same first/middle/last name is highly unlikely. However personally I don't care one way or another if you want to use the name he used for his book that's fine by me. | | | Are you local? | Posted: | | | | Since cast and crew do not link, there is no need for a common name. Simply enter them as credited and be done with it. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
