| Posted: | | | | I am updating Guru UPC 025192198427. How does one know who the distributor is if the data is not specifically listed on the DVD cover?
Where can I go to find if Universal Home Entertainment or Universal Home Video is correct and when each should be used? |

| Posted: | | | | Kathy: This is something that takes background in the industry. Here is the the breakdown for UHV which was a holdover from the days of videotape was used to about the end of 1999, at that time they changed to UHE. that's not good enough however, sometime around mid 2004 they changed AGAIN to USHV, this can usually be determined by the inclusion of USHV in the UPC area; this change did not last very long, sometime in early 2005 they morphed into the current USHE which is designated typically by the logo. Too bad they all don't behave like WHV, which has never changed from the beginning...oh, oh I shouldn't have said that.... Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Universal will often put that info on their proof of purchase tabs. It may be on a booklet inside the case. --------------- |

Where can I go to find if Universal Home Entertainment or Universal Home Video is correct and when each should be used? This is one of the one that includes the URL instead of an actual distributor name. While it isn't ideal, just type the URL into your browser, see where it takes you and enter that name. In this case, it will be Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Again, while not ideal, it is your only option...unless you want to do loads of research. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Because of the timeline involved Martian (2003) and the fact that USHE was not in use until 2005, it's pretty clear to me that they redirected their website. After all in mid 2004 they were using USHV and it's not logical (but then the industry is not known for their logic or their creativity) It is highly unlikely that they would change to USHE, then to USHV and back to USHE. IF my memory serves me, Kathy, UHE is also something that you might find printed on the actual disc itself, i think this was true for UHE, around the outside edge. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! I don't disagree, which is why I said it wasn't ideal. The ideal answer would be for Kathy to do the research needed to come up with the actual name at the time of the release. If, however, she doesn't have the time nor inclination...it's better than nothing. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | What is a URL? The only thing printed on the DVD itself is Universal and Universal Studios. When I plugged the UPC number into several different websites I got Universal, Universal Studios and, in one instance, Universal Home Video Inc. I didn't get Universal Home Entertainment but I only played with it for a few minutes. Well...all I can say is... |

| Posted: | | | | Like I said Kathy UHV was finished in late 1999, then they became UHE. And The Guru is 2003.
