May 21, 1980 was the nationwide screen debut of The Empire Strikes Back.

"Luke, I am..."

I was nearly thirty when Empire first showed. We (first wife, 9 year old son, 4 year old daughter & I) went to see it at the newly divided in half Century Theatre (which originally opened to the widescreen version of Gone with the Wind). The audience was nearly silent through the film and then Yoda shows up in the swamp. He asks Luke about needing some help and my daughter says (quite loudly in this quiet theater) "It's Grover wearing a mask!" The audience laughed for minutes, blocking the next bits of dialog. Throughout the rest of the movie, people would laugh every time Yoda spoke. "Yup, Grover." "Sounds just like him."
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

When it opened here in Sweden it had a 15 rating which meant I wasn't old enough to see it in the theater (I was 11 at the time). So I never got to see it in the theater, only much later on video...

The rating nowadays is 11 btw.

Yupp,
check Google on this.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Excellent! The use of clips from the Outer Limits seemed a little like cheating as all the other clips were from movies, but no matter. Well done!

Yupp,
check Google on this.

It's gone on the main page by now, but seems it was so popular, they kept it...
