| Posted: | | | | I'm trying to submit the first version of the Criterion Brazil as Unrated because it's a director's cut which is different than the US version, but the rating is locked. NR was correct back when it got locked, btu the rules have changed. What do we do with these? |

| Posted: | | | | I'd try a support ticket - chances that the right people accidentally happen to stumble upon this thread seem slim. This is a pet peeve of mine: the entire system of on-line locks just doesn't work. At the very least, cast and crew should NEVER EVER be allowed to be locked, since the "most-credited form" common name principle means that no cast and crew list is ever really, definitevely, "done". And if it's not that, then it'll be new crew credits, or group dividers, and so on. The example of locked ratings again highlights the problem: once such a change is made, any locks on the ratings field should automatically be lifted. |

| Posted: | | | | I thought the locks were local only, did I miss something? Just left click the title, select locks, unlock or change ands submit. I've submitted stuff that was locked locally just in case, as long as it's not custom or other field, it goes through with or without the local locks on. |

If you click on the 'database' tab above, you will see that there is a button, under 'Collection Profiles', that says 'View/Edit Locks'. When clicked, you will see a list of every title you own. When you click on one of the titles, you have the ability to 'lock' certain fields in the profile. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar | | | Last edited: by TheMadMartian |

If they are true locks, then I completely agree they should never be turned on for cast or crew, as common names will change over time, new credits will be allowed and they won't remain static. Now locking audio, features, runtime and studios is a good idea if they have been confirmed, as those fields will stay as is. Only bad info would change anything one time correct, not so with people though. |

| Posted: | | | | I see it now, and despite part of me wanting to lock in somethings I know to be right, there's too many to figure out where to begin. Maybe I'll start using them as I audit from here out though, but only for stuff that can't change like runtime video format. |

| Posted: | | | | The truth is that pretty much any field could change if the program does. For instance, lots of overviews were correct, then we added the ability to do mark-up. Lots of disc info was correct, then we added the ability to name the two sides separately. I'm not sure this feature is ever a good idea. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Ace... I been against these locks for a very long time now. As he said... pretty much anything can change how we do it in profiler... you mention runtime. What if it is decided at some point in the future an exact match instead of rounding is preferred... and Ken adds ability to track seconds as well... for accuracy sake. | | | Pete |

Main database locks should get deleted, they serve no purpose anymore. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |
