| Posted: | | | | I was just doing an update for the profile for Hard Rain. At least when it comes to all the stuff I am comfortable doing... the only change I could make is an Alternate Disc ID... so I go to change that and what do I find?
As usual I try to remember to always look at past notes with my changes. And I find a previous change by me!... about a year earlier...
Among other things... - Alternate Disc ID added... Original: HARDRAIN[46672895098600AF] New: HARDRAIN[A463E309B77EC5D9]
And my new contribution would have been....
- Alternate Disc ID added... Old: HARDRAIN[A463E309B77EC5D9] New: HARDRAIN[46672895098600AF]
... this time I am showing the original id the new one? How could just the time of about a year past and the same equipment show the opposite results? Very weird! | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Strange things happen. Time to call for Scully and Moulder I guess | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | That is very weird, indeed! I've never seen something like that.
I hope I'm not hijacking the thread but on a related note, when you submit an alternate disc ID, does that automatically remove (overwrite) the previous one? Wouldn't that pose a problem for people who have the previous ID and want to add the disc using disc ID? I'm just wondering ... | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

I believe that the alternative disc ids do not override the previous - but, invelos does store and keep track of them. |

| Posted: | | | | If I remember what Ken said correctly... the profile will always "show" the newest disc ID added... but all the disc ids that was submitted for that release will be in the database. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Yes all are stored in the database, but this is i9ndeed very strange. Do you maybe have a copyright removal tool working that changes the disk id ?

Tools like AnyDVD, and Passkey are know to alter disc ID's - if you've got those running you should never contribute disc ID's. If you use software like that, you should only capture disc ID's after you've switched off and rebooted your system. Else every disc ID you've submitted while such software was running is fake... |

| Posted: | | | | Nope... I do not have any tools like that at all. I don't rip DVDs so I don't have any type of copyright removal software. And I also only deal in R1 US DVDs... so nothing to change the region of my disc drive either. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

I seem to remember one of the beta versions that had submissions enabled was generating bad disc IDs and a number of incorrect IDs got added to the database. Could that be it? Tom |

| Posted: | | | | hmmm.... don't remember that. But I guess that could be it at least. The past notes don't tell us what version we used and whether it was a beta or not. | | | Pete |

This is not true for AnyDVD anymore. I've verified countless of disc IDs both with and without AnyDVD running and they produce exactly the same results. There are however other similar tools that might interfere. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

I can remember I tested this once with a few discs and I've never seen a difference. Could it be it was problem that was solved with newer versions? |

| Posted: | | | | Did you do the read-out before contributiong or was it some time ago and you submitted later? Or did Brittany destroy the disc and replaced it with another version? | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

It may very well be that AnyDVD doesn't do this anymore, like KinoNiki said, but, for instance, I can report that the latest version of DVDFab Passkey still changes DVD disc ID's. It doesn't seem to impact Blu-ray disc ID's, though. In any case, it's still something to be wary of... |
