| Posted: | | | | Our Taxes just went up another 5 % ( HST ) .. and in BC here another carbon tax on gasoline pushes to a 'total' of 4.8 cents per litre ( 4.5*4.8= 21 odd cents per gallon) ... BC has yet to have a single day this month ( june) to have a full sunny and extra warm day (always below 20 c ) .. It's still winter here .. but sure I'll take the accolade's ..... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Here on the east coast we're laughing at you about the weather But not about the taxes. Here in Nova Scotia we've already had the HST for a few years, and as of today it's jumped from 13% to 15%. |

| Posted: | | | | I just had the privelidge of spending a week in P.E.I and all I can say is what a truly wonderful place. The people, landscape and easy laid back lifestyle was a breath of fresh air compared to the rat race here in Providence and Boston. My grandparents were from the Island and always spoke fondly of the place where they were born and raised. I now can see why. As for the taxes in Canada, yes they were high but my taxes here are also high in RI. My home the taxes are 4,200.00 a year, Sales tax @ 7% and gasoline tax is at 33 cents per gallon which is amongst the highest in the nation. Two things in life are guaranteed, Taxes and Death. You can't avoid either so I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA.... Your a spectacular country. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Bill,, say What did you think of the 8 mile Confederation Bridge? The Tolls are quite high at $42 bucks a car... But what a marvelous source of Technology . We stayed near the Anne Of Green Gables Cottage, and I love how the ground (dirt) is Red, as P.E.I is famous for its Potatoes . Stayed 3 days, and We took the Ferry back to Nova Scotia .( a lot cheaper). | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. It was fast though to get across. and not as scary as I thought it would be. Only wish that it was wider than 2 lane. The 42.00 was a bit high but if you took the ferry back then you did not have to pay the toll as it was only collected when you left the Island. The Red dirt is because of the high iron content in the soil which causes it to rust when it hits the air. There is a place called MacNeill Mills that is in West Devon P.E.I. That is where my roots go back to and where I wish to go back to again. Terry, you are blessed. A few pictures of P.E.I for those who never visited or heard of...
