There is a contribution for the past 5 days on Crocodile Dundee (097363-202943)with new scans
(not mine)., and would you believe that 90% of the voters have agreed that the green scan is better than the good scan with reddish skin tones.. Let's face it.. If you are a bushman in the Australian desert you will have sunburn chest and face.. not greenish skin tones and a green hat and the windows-skyscrapers instead of aluminum steel/blue color are bluish-green as well.. Plus the Blue Banner for the Title is deeper and not pale.. The details of the cars are better defined as well.. I checked this image on a couple of different PC's and they all look the same.. This scan has come up in the past and I have locked down my images on this so I really don;t care about the outcome of this, but am I nuts or is the Green scan better?

I don't have this movie to tell... but for me at least... it would depend on how the actual cover looks. If the greener one is closer to the actual cover I would vote to keep it. If the one with the red skin is closer to the actual cover then that is what I would vote for.

The contribution in question is trying to add the old coverscans that were previously in the database. The "greener" ones replaced them in a previous contribution.

I'm looking at the actual DVD cover now, and his skintones really do appear slightly more reddish actually...

That's not why I voted no however, it was because the contributor gave no notes on the data changes they have submitted.

The real question that should be asked is, which one looks most like the actual cover?  I don't have this DVD, but which one looks "better" isn't really the issue.

I checked amazon and their scan is more redder than green.. and no I don't have the disc either (wish list)  other wise I would try and rescan ( eventually ) and yes I'm still waiting for this contributor to change his notes on COO  and  (keep the red scans in)  resubmit but,, after 6 days and 18 no and two yes votes  he has yet to do anything -but sit back and wait for the screeners to vote it no..
which of course will goe against his 'record approval' for contribution history notes ....

I own it, the actual is skin tone redder than current scans but he doesn't appear to  have sunburn in them like the new ones do. If they get rid of some the red the rest of the colors on the new scan are better.

I think you're getting the cart before the horse.  How do you know new scans are needed until you have the product in your hand?

Not owning it I can say besides the skintone, the one on the right looks much sharper and crisper. Of course this means nothing if the color from the one on left is proper. Like others said, it's not about what looks better, it's about what looks right. Just going by how the buildings look though, the greenish left almost has to be wrong.

I'll try and make a note when I roll up to Best Buy in few to look at a cover there (if they have it and it hasn't been re-issued with a new cover). If the lighting is decent and they have it, I can grab a pic with my phone.

agree

Agree as well.

Oh that's easy. Yes. Yes you are..... wait... what was the other question again?

I am sitting here with the DVD in hand. From a perspective of color tone only, the one on the right is much closer to the actual cover with it missing only a light yellow-green tinge over the entire image.

The real image is somewhere slightly in the middle of the two scans in terms of the red tones (a little too yellow on the left, a little too red on the right), but the greens and blues are near perfect on the scan on the right compared to the original cover.
