With the new ruling, it looks like "Sound Supervisor" will not be allowed.

After doing "a little" research, it looks like it is more closely related to "Supervising Sound Editor" than a "Recordist".

So should the descriptor be moved?

Am I misreading?

There's a contradiction in the rules now, depending on how you read the rules:

Quote:
Sound,
Sound Recording,
Sound Recordist,
Sound Supervisor,
Recordist,
Recorded by

Only use when there's no production sound mixing credit

and

Quote:
Do include "Supervising" credits in the above categories, examples: "Supervising Art Director", "Makeup Supervisor", except where explicity forbidden above.

I believe that the condition "Only use when there's no production sound mixing credit" applies for all the sound recording roles. The Sound Supervisor isn't explicitly forbidden but on the other hand there's this condition that tells us when not to use the Sound credit. So sorry I don't know

Completely agree! "Sound Supervisor" is often used as a functional equivalent to "Supervising Sound Editor" and listed directly before the rest of the sound editors like "ADR Sound Editors" etc.

Per the new note in the crew chart, if there is a production sound mixing credit, you can't enter a Sound Supervisor.

Right, in that case it's forbidden, and part of the 2nd rule quoted.

I understand that.

My question is, should the descriptor "Sound Supervisor" be moved under "Supervising Sound Editor" instead of "Sound"

By my research, this descriptor is under the wrong heading.  With the way that it is, we may not capture the "Supervising Sound Editor" because it is listed as "Sound Supervisor"

Ah, I misunderstood your question.

If it is, in fact, a different title for the same job, then it should probably be moved.
