| Posted: | | | | Is there a quick and easy way to have DVD Profiler open to a random movie when starting the program? It'd be nice not to have to look at (500) Days of Summer every time I wanted to update or add some titles. Thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | You can change the order of your movies easily. Go to Collection Sort and choose however you want them listed. There is a random option there along with title, collection number, purchase date, review and so on. Hadn't tried random before this, but did just now, and it does look like it changes every time you open profiler. | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
Lori's response was absolutely correct. The only problem is that Profiler will start start in the way it was last sorted. If you leave it as "Random" that's the way it will start but if sorted elsewise it will start that way (is elsewise a word?). There is however a way to have it always start random. If you refer to the advanced topics within Profiler help the basic procedure is described there. It involves creating a simple text file that tells Profiler how to start and then refering to that file as a startup parameter. It isn't difficult. Refer to Help for an explanation of what I did.
Here's a step by step: 1) Create a txt file and name it - Commands.txt 2) Copy this text to it - MenuCommand "Collection\Sort by\Random" 3) Save the file in "C" drive 4) In the Windows Start Menu right-click on the entry that normally starts Profiler when it is left-clicked. 5) Left click "Properties" from the menu that opened 6) Change the "Target" field as follows: "C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler\dvdpro.exe" /CommandFile=C:\Commands.txt 7) That's all!

| Posted: | | | | Update to Random start solution. Not starting random. I tried this with a previous version of Profiler without success. In response to the initial post I tried it again and it seemed to work. It's not working now. I don't know what the problem is but I'll try to find out and correct it if I can. I'll update if I find a solution. Hopefully, someone will come to the rescue.

In my opinion it would be better, if Profiler would select the profile at startup, which was selected last at the time of closing Profiler. | | |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the help everyone! Jim, your solution seems to work just fine for me, just takes a second for the txt file to run. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
Regarding the startup parameters: When I tried it I thought it worked also but I think what I was doing was leaving it in Random when I shut down. I hope you're not doing the same thing. If it does, in fact, work for you could you post a copy of the text file and the Properties Target field? I tried everything I could think of but couldn't get it to work.
