I recently bought Blade: The Series: The Complete Series set. Decided to work on the set... make child profiles and such. And I have a couple of questions.

Disc One Disc ID:
I tried every way I can think of to get DVD Profiler to read the disc ID for Disc one of the set. I tried it the normal way... tried making a manual profile first then changing it to disc ID with the Change UPC option... I even copied the disc ID from infotools and tried to paste it in. No luck.

If anyone one here has this set... and can get disc 1 to read in profiler... can I ask you to make a very basic (even title and disc ID is enough for me... I will do all the real work.) and submit it... or even send it to me personally as a back up... I would appreciate it very much. Until then I can only upload discs 2-4.

Scene Access
As we all know... per rules scene access is only checked when there is a menu option to choose scenes within the feature (episodes in case of TV Series). This set brings an interesting problem I never seen before.

Disc One only has the pilot movie that started the series... and it has menu option for scenes... so gets checked. The rest of the discs (Discs 2-4) do not have it... only episode selection. Which is easy enough for the child profiles... disc 1 have them checked... discs 2-4 do not. But what about the parent profile. Since the info belongs in the parent profile as well what do we do? My first thought is to go with the majority... and do not check the scene selection for the parent profile... but I can at the same time see the argument that since the pilot movie has scene access it is in the set even though it isn't there for none of the normal lengthed episodes.

Thoughts?

When i do a disc series the features for the parent are the sum of all those available on the children.  The child profiles will provide disc specific details.

If one disc has Deleted Scenes but the others don't that is OK, just note them in the Parent and the proper Child profile.

I'd note Scene Access on the Parent.

(RE: Disc ID: Do you have access to a second computer you could install Profiler on and try to read the ID there?  You could create a single profile and backup/restore to get it on your machine.)
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Yeah that makes since Tweeter... not sure why I didn't look at it (scene access) that way to start with.

And thanks for the idea for the disc ID... I can try it in my daughter's laptop. I never thought of that since I never get to play with her laptop!

OK... I just tried it in my daughter's laptop... which is a much newer computer then mine... she hasn't even had it a year yet.... and her DVD-Rom won't read the disc id either.

So if anyone else that has this set can get it to read... and can set up disc 1 (basic only is fine!) I would appreciate it.

Pete, I used to have this set and I could never get the disc 1 ID either. I think it had something to do with the way it was authored. It played just fine just could not get the disc ID.

That sucks... I guess I will just have to keep disc 1 as a manual profile.

I guess I can still go ahead and upload discs 2-4 when they are done... will at least be less work for others.

Of course if anyone is interested in the child profiles here... I can always do a back-up of disc 1 and send it to whoever wants it.

Has anyone tried running it through AnyDVD? It might be able to get round the protections or problems enough for a Disc ID to be found by DVDProfiler.

AnyDVD usually reports the correct Disc ID.

No ID by me.

But Blade Collection: 4 Film Favorites UPC 794043132223: Disc 4, Blade: House of Chthon, Unrated,
ID I6E0723BBD3E4A8B0

and

Blade: The Series: The Complete Series, UPC 794043107238: Disc 1: Pilot
have the same content this I read some place and verified by playing and comparing the two discs on two DVD players an LG and Oppo 93 at the same time. They have the same previews, bonuses, commentaries, etc

Both discs react to the VSO Inspector the same.

Both have a Volume Label: BLADE_HOUSE_OF_CHTHON

OK... sounds like I wouldn't be able to contribute a profile for the online anyway then... since it looks like the disc ID is already being used.  Thanks.

I finished making all the child profiles for this set. Discs 2-4 have been contributed to the online. Obviously I couldn't do that for disc 1. Discs 2 & 3 have already been released and ready for download. Disc 4 has just been contributed... will most likely be there in the morning.

I have made a manual profile for disc 1... if anyone here would like it... just let me know and I will make a back-up of the profile for you.

Just tried to scan it myself, all I got was:

Unable to read Disc ID.  There is no disc inserted or the current disc cannot be identified as a DVD.

How weird is that?

Also tried to copy/paste the Disc ID from what Srehtims posted but it would not paste into DVD Profiler.      -kd5-

Yeah, for some reason you can't paste DiscIDs into DVDP.
