| Posted: | | | | I threw away all my Star Trek videos on Monday afternoon (lack of space). I felt like I was committing treason of the very worst sort, as I watched them all fall into the “household rubbish” at the civic amenity site; (even charity shops don’t seem to want videos anymore). But I thought, “ it’s okay, it’s okay, they’ll come out on Blu-ray, one day; they’re bound to...” Now I see this post; and I too now need to go and change my underwear. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... | | | Last edited: by SpikyCactus |

| Posted: | | | | I think I'm gonna have to hold off watching the series on Netflix. They're showing the full-screen cropped to fit wide-screen format. Fortunately, my son and I didn't get very far, only towards the end of the first season. |

| Posted: | | | | They need to give the green light to a new Star Trek series soon. There was news of a pitch last month about a Star Trek following on from Voyager. So it won't conflict with the new film saga. Which is good cause there's so much more they can do. The Federation is still a middle of the road power, with the Klingon's, Romulan's and the Borg on the back foot now. There's real changes going to happen, and of course new tecnologys. Oh god im such a geek Would also like to see how holographic rights progressed to. |

| Posted: | | | | I just finished watching all 7 seasons of TNG on DVD last week...for the second time. Hmmm...2012 might be too soon to watch it again. But then again...it'll be on Blu-ray . I'd love to see Voyager on BD too. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

With the early cancellation of ST: Enterprise (which I'm still grumbling over), it may be tricky for a new series. Seems like people are burned out on it. But a series based on the reboot? Maybe. |

Odd, I'm watching TNG on Netflix as well and so far on seasons 1-4 i've been seeing 1:33 episodes. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | Keep in mind The Next Generation, like pretty much all TV shows from abotu 1980 to 2001 or so, was shot on film, then transfered to video for all post-[roduction work. Making it in Blu-ray means goign back to the dailies, retransfering them to high definition video, they redoing the editing, color timign and possibly special effects, depending on the technique used. Next generation kept good records, so they know exactly the take to use and the time-codes for what frames to grab and the effects were shot on film, so they just need to be recomposited. For a lot of shows, the film versions may not exist anymore or record keeping was a lot thinner, which means a lot more work to find the right material to recreate the show. We'll probably see plenty of popular shows from this era on Blu-ray (Friends and Seinfeld are rumored to be in the works), but lots of shows will never make it. I'm hopeful about Deep Space 9 and Voyager. They were less popular than Next Generation and would be more expensive to do because they both used CGI effects, which would need to be completely redone, but they were fairly popular. |

Over a year ago official sources stated Deep Space 9 would never be available on Blu-ray. Due to low sales on DvD, the cost of remastering them for HD could not be justified. |

Things may change, though, especially if Next Generation makes them a ton of cash. Yeah i thought the statement at the time was a bit premature. |
