Being in Europe at the moment certainly has its upside, and I don't just mean the wine, cheese, and culture. Heck, I almost don't mind getting up in the middle of the night to watch CFL and NHL games streaming over the internet.

I popped into the local English Kino and caught the new The Adventures of TinTin film simply ages before I would have were I still back home. I must say I enjoyed the devil out of it. It really captures the spirit of the books I remember reading in French as a child. And the animation is stunning. Almost photo-realistic, but still capturing the look of the characters as they were originally drawn. I won't say more out of fear for spoiling anything for the Yanks and fellow Canucks, but it will make a rollicking good film to take the fam to over Christmas break.

From seeing the trailer i to admired the faithfulness to it's original source. Here's hoping it set's a
precedence in the film making industry for other such film adaptations.

I myself started reading 'Kuifje' more than 50 years ago and I love other artists (like Edgar P. Jacobs a.o.) who were influenced by Hergé.

I'm a huge Spielberg fan but I won't be seeing TinTin, it's never interested me but I'm sure it will be a big hit. Not sure why it has to be in 3D; to each their own I suppose.

I'll probably buy it on BD eventually (when the price is right), but not 3D.

I am not sure why the 3D either, I am becoming less enamored with the technology every day. That said, this is some of the best use of 3D I have seen. It really adds depth to a lot of the scenes, but has none of the "look at me, I'm 3D!" in your face crap. It is both subtle and effective.  I am still going to stick with 2D when it comes to buying the blu-ray though.
