After the rather disappointing year 2011 finally a good movie year again. First The Dark Knight Rises, then The Hobbit.

Maybe a bit OT, but:

Beeing a fan of Google Maps I love all the easter eggs.
Try this:
maps.google.com
Get directions, walking
a = the shire
b = mordor

Read warning...!

Funny warning.

My directions are through Washington state.

Pity there is no real map of Middle Earth in Google maps, Tolkien's maps never had enough detail for me.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Yah, mine is through Washington too.  More specifically, a restaurant named Shire in Chehalis, WA to Mordor Tattoo in Arglington, WA.  A trip of 133 miles.

If you have a default location set up for Google Maps to start in your area, it tries to find matches there.

Wait, isn't there something called OSM? Open Sauron Maps?

Warning? The only warning I see is "Did you mean a different: The Shire".

Tried IE and Firefox, upper and lower case.  I'm not really seeing anything the least bit exciting.

I also didn't get the warning (I knew what I was looking for, I read about this before).

After logging out and after switching to Walking rather than Driving it showed up.

After getting the route and switching the method away from walking and then back again, I got the Easter Egg.
