| Posted: | | | | A first for me...I have not seen any of the 19 different films nominated in the top 6 categories! Looks like I'll be Redboxing quite a few films over the next month! And what's up with the Original Song category...only 2 nominees? Seriously!?! | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

| Posted: | | | | Must be pain at Pixar, not even a nomination. Then again, Cars 2 wasn't that good. Anyways, will be interesting to see if the resulting choice will be the arthousy or the more popular direction.
Anybody know whether Arrietty by Ghibly was introduced in the USA last year? In the U.K. and here in the Netherlands it is already out on bluray... | | | Eric
If it is important, say it. Otherwise, let silence speak. |

It's scheduled for a wide release on Feb 17 here in the States. I don't think it had any limited engagements in 2011...usually those that do get their wide releases in January. | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

Anyways, will be interesting to see if the resulting choice will be the arthousy or the more popular direction. ... Ever since Disney bought Pixar, the relationship has not run smooth. The mouse house of magic is much more concerned about profit these days. The merchandizing spinoffs from the first Cars movie was more profitable than everything else (put together) that Pixar has done. The pressure to knock out a Cars sequel was enormous. I hope they bought enough artistic freedom with it... Disney has always gone through waves of triumphs followed by periods of (for them) deadly dullness. The joys of Pinocchio gave way to the films of nice shorts strung together. The simple beautry of Dumbo lasted for a while until the live action boredom set in. 101 Dalmatians and The Parent Trap were minor high points compared to the years of animation based on celebrity voices until Howard Ashman helped create the "Renaissance." Disney distributing Pixar was another revival. It's hard to be really good, all the time, for a long long time. I expect both Disney and Pixar to delight me a few times more before I die. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
