I'm trying to add a new DVD. It's The Good German, region 4, EAN 9325336033593. Now when I tried to add by EAN the profile didn't exist. I then tried to add by title, but again no title could be found for region 4. So, I downloaded a region 1 profile, changed the EAN to the one above, removed the cover scans, corrected any other information from the case and dvd and went to contribute this "new" profile. But when trying to contribute I get a screen showing "Recent Contribution notes for this profile". These notes are dated 2007 and one of them is described as creating the new profile. I even get a comparison screen showing me the differences between my profile and the already contributed profile. So, how can there be contribution notes for a profile that doesn't exist?

So in 2007 someone created a profile for thie EAN but I can't download the same profile. I guess it's possible that the profile was removed from the Invelos database sometime between 2007 and now, but is that likely?

Out of curiosity... did you remember to change the locality as well? It could be you are looking at a profile for another locality if you didn't change it.

It is possible that it was removed from the database. There were people removing profiles from the database that looked suspect (believed to be bootlegs and such)... and I am sure some good ones got removed by accident as well. But that should show a contribution notes asking for the title to be removed.

No,
the profile (9325336033593 / Locality: Australia) is still in the database and it downloads just fine for me.

More likely is one of the following two:

1) a typo while trying to add the profile to your collection
2) Outdated Online Profile List after update to 3.8.1

To fix 2) Go to DVDProfiler menu "Online -> Refresh Online Profile List..."
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Hi All,

Thanks for the reponse. Just a couple of responses:

1. I did make sure that I had changed the locality.
2. I doubt it was a typo (of the EAN) as I tried it several times over a couple of days. But in any case, I just tried it again, but still no go.
3. I tried the "Online -> Refresh Online Profile List", but it took only a couple of seconds to complete. I thought this option re-downloaded the full profile list?

Now, here it gets interesting. I selected "Online -> Refresh DVD From Invelos -> Refresh Profile and Images" and DVDProfiler downloaded the profile and added images.

So, now it all seems OK.

Interestingly, if I go to add this same DVD again, it doesn't show up when adding by EAN or when adding by Title.

If the profile is already in your local database this is normal.
DVDProfiler doesn't support multiple copies with the same identifier (UPC or DiscID)

This is not normal, normally it should show up - when adding by title with an icon indicating the collection its in.

You could try holding down CTRL-key when clicking "Online -> Refresh Online Profile List...", this should re-download the complete list.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that.
