There is a poll in the "Contribution Rules Committee" forum for the final stage of getting the 2D/3D issues clarrified in the rules.  The poll is on the final wording.  There are two options for the wording and it affects the audio ordering, so everyone who has a concern should vote.

HTe main post also gives a background to the discussions

Please go review and vote.  And of course feel free to comment.

You need to request access to the rules forum to read the post.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I think to  be really fair, since people have not been a pert of the discussion, you should go back and ask people here, the basic question.

Profile main disk in parent only, and child profile other disks as children

Combine all hd profiles into parent, with option child profiles.

So you are saying we start over because it was discussed in the "Contribution Rules Committee" forum and not this one?

Even though when discussions like rule changes are discussed in this forum i is pointed out that the discussion should be moved to the "Contribution Rules Committee" forum.

I am not sure what you are asking for, because the discussion has been happening for about a month, and many people have participated.

You are asking people to make a decision on poll wording, when they have not been in the original discussions, even referencing a poll, in which not everybody has access.

Not everybody has access to the contribution rules committee, because you have to ask for access.

If you want people to make an informed decision, they need to be made aware of the entire discussion, including where it started and the basis for that discussion.  In all realism, the question should have started out here, then moved to the rules forum to hash out the specifics.

Without the opinion of the "general" community, we would be forcing the contribution rules forum participants opinions onto the rest of the community.

Yes you have to ask for access, but I have not seen anyone post that their access was denied.

I am not sure why Ken has that access restricted where you have to ask for access, but he does.

When I first bought this product in October 2011 it was not long after I asked for access.  Because I wanted to be part of such discussions.

3D discussions have been going on in this foum since November 2011, or at least that has been when I started getting involved with them.  The base discussion in the "Contribution Rules Committee" started based on the content of those discussions.  So it did start here.

I don't know why you have to ask (and I, like you, asked for access early on), but I would imagine that there are a number of people that really do not want to get involved with all the ins and outs of writing the actual rule.  (Heck, look at some of the discussions, they get pretty in depth at times)

I agree, the discussions have been going on since 2011, but to my memory, I did not see anybody question directly how the "general" community would prefer to do it.  That decision was made in the rules forum.  (I have been guilty of this too).

The general decision, in my opinion should have been made out here, then hash out the wording and what not in the rules forum.

You wouldn't see it because most frequent forum visitors (like me) know whether they have access to that forum or not. So, stating the obvious is a waste of time.

As for why. Remember to include the Intervocative days also. When rules were discussed in the open often, at some point, some trolling started to happen by some entrenched in their own vision. A more controlled access gives Ken more space to manage the discussions. That is my understanding of this separate forum. That said, it is also a continuation of a more 'secretive' discussion group that existed in the past with the same purpose -- and people not in that group complained about the secretive nature. So there you have it. It is now a forum in principle open to everyone but you have to ask for it.

I participate from time to time in contribution rules issues (see: Asean names...), but I didn't sign up for the rules forum because I believe that if you do, you should make the time to actively participate. And up to very recently, I didn't have that time.
Eric

If it is important, say it. Otherwise, let silence speak.

Actually the initial thoughts on how to proceed came directly from suggestions that were made and posted in this forum, I don't have the link handy.  But in the discussions in the rulles forum some were suggested and added in there as well.

All I can add is almost everytime I have brought up things that mey be needed in the rules it keeps being posted that those discussions are better off in the "Contribution Rulles Committee" forum.

Charlie, isn't that the point of the Contributiom Rules Committee subforum ... to vote for contribution rule changes?  Just because someone currently doesn't have access to that subforum doesn't mean they're precluded from asking for access.  It might be one thing if they couldn't ask for access but that's not the case.

This is true but I know that sometimes it takes many months to get approved.
