| | Posted: | | | | I understand that to vote on profile changes you need an online copy of your collection and the profile in question must be part of that collection, and obviously you don't get to vote on your own profile contributions.
But other then that how does it work? Is there a time limit on how long a contrib sits there waiting for votes? What happens if no one votes?
Reason I ask is, I contributed a couple of profiles for dvd upc's that currently don't exist in the database, but they had a minor error (one a typo, one a bad release date). So, I uploaded corrected profiles and there they are waiting to be voted on. Now since obviously no one else has these in their collection and I'm not allowed to vote by default. What happens with them? |

On new titles to the system they obviously don't get voted on so they go to the screeners without the waiting period for other members to vote on them. But once they are in the system they have to give any owners a chance to vote on them.
Per Invelos they must leave them up for at least 2 days to give people a chance to vote on them. But the screeners are seldomly that caught up to do it that fast. It is normally set to vote on for about a week.
On a side note...
As for voting itself... when you vote on something... you are not voting on "Yes, this info looks good... lets keep it"... you are voting that yes this contribution follows the rules or no this contribution does not follow the rules. Because of this you can get some contributions that may look wrong... but are the correct way to do it... for example... a popular one at the time...
On a lot of the profiles instead of having Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace we had Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace because the word episode was not on the front cover, and per the rules the title had to be from the front cover. | | | | Pete |

By the way I see by your registrration date you are pretty new.
Welcome aboard.
I have been with the community less than a year.
As someone who was recently new I do have some advice. Be open to learn how the online database rules work and don't be afraid to post questions, no matter how trivial. Some of the rules can get complicated and from my experience this community does extend its help readily to all that are willing to learn.
Also always remember the rules are for the online database and not your local. You can choose to do things differently in your local database, but not contribute it. |
