I just called the toll free telephone number (877-335-8936). I was on hold for about seven minutes before the assistant answered (the weblink above has comments of people waiting ten to twenty minutes). Once the person answered, she was very pleasant, asked for me to read a (hard to read) number from the back of the first disc. Once she verified that I had discs which needed replacement she asked for my name and address, asked if I would care to provide an email address, and then stated that the replacement discs would be sent to me shortly after August 10.

No need to supply them with anything more than the one number off the first disc and your name and mailing address. Other than the mild wait to talk, extremely easy and quick.

Good link! Thank you.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Thanks for the link. My copy of the Blu-ray is still in the mail. I hope they replace discs for international customers as well.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I noticed the problem, but it wasn't horrible on my system -- I thought maybe there was a problem with those episodes' original audio so they had to make do.

Will definitely get on there to get replacements.

Cliff, you have it right there. I had to wait about 5 minutes and went through the same process. They kept that simple and to the point. Looking forward to the discs next week!

I've received an e-mail from amazon.co.uk stating that Paramount had identified problems with some of the discs and that they, amazon, will be sending a complimentary copy of the revised edition when it becomes available.

"According to the fulfillment firm, replacement discs will be sent within 5-10 business days after August 10." (From the website)

10 business days after August 10th will not be until Friday, August 24. At the earliest, they would have mailed last Friday... but perhaps not until the end of this week. I will worry when September rolls around if I do not have mine.

This is weird. I used the e-mail address and provided all the information they asked for and today I got this mail:

"Dear Star Trek Fans,

We have discovered an anomaly in the English 7.1 DTS Master Audio track in our Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Blu-ray Box set.  There are some episodes that inadvertently had their front channel designations incorrectly mapped, resulting in an undesired playback experience when listening to them in a 7.1  or 5.1 Surround Sound environment."

Yeah, I know. That's why I contacted you in the first place.

"We are quickly working to remedy the situation.  Please email Ricky.Royalty@sonydadc.com with details of where you purchased this product and purchase date and we will advise how a replacement copy of Season 1 will be made available.  You may also call 01992 657 739 between 9am to 5.30pm, Monday-Friday.

We strive to provide our fans the best Blu-ray experience possible and sincerely apologize for this inconvenience."

Why didn't they ask that in the first place? Oh well, as long as I get the replacements eventually.

Just a head's up. From Digital Bits:

Now then... we've gotten word that shipments of CBS's fixed Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season One Blu-rays have been pushed into early September. The reason is that it seems one of the episodes on Disc Five was found to be missing a visual effect, so that's being fixed as well. We'll let you know when shipments start hitting the mail.

I spoke with someone at the fullfillment company involved as of tonight they have no date period. Boy! Did Paramount really mess this high profile release up badly. I had high hopes when they jumped on this replacement program so quickly but now it appears they were not really ready to push these replacements out the door either.

It is clear the person(s) heading quality control on the BDs is doing a very poor job in my estimation. What a shame.

I'm a geezer... I find patience to work well for me. It's easy to do a bad job quickly. Correcting it takes longer, and if you try to rush a correction, it may not fix everything. I'm willing to be patient and await the replacement discs... and I will be much happier (short term and long term) if the replacement discs to not need to be replaced again.

Funny, the response I got via e-mail was:

Replacement discs will begin shipping August 27th

So who knows what's going on. I do agree with VibroCount. I don't mind waiting especially since there's an additional correction that needed to be done. True, it shouldn't have happened in the first place but at least it's getting done. Let's hope it doesn't happen again on season 2.
