| | Posted: | | | | Many discs comes with trailers as a commercial before you come to the menu. Should we include this in the "Features" section, or should we only select "Bonus Trailers" if it's reachable through the main menu/bonus menu?
To make things more complicated - some discs may display trailers depending on which country/language you choose in the introductory language menu. Let's say if you choose "Swedish" you will get some trailers before the main menu, but if you choose "Norwegian" you will get none. In these cases I normally choose the features according to the country where disc is distributed. |

| | Posted: | | | | Normally trailers are listed on the cover as special features. However, as said here, there is a difference between Feature Trailers and Bonus Trailers.
What isn't listed as a Bonus Feature, but that you may list as Other Features, is a promo reel. Which is a series of trailers, one after the other, showing before the menu.

No, as much as a trailer is a trailer, a promo reel is a promo reel. Like "From this (distributing) studio as well, comes..." and then random titles. I don't regard that as a bonus trailer (or several)—unless this promo reel is listed on the back cover as "bonus trailers", specifically, which they wouldn't be—because it's just that, a promo reel. I see a bonus trailer as a trailer either before or after a movie. In the golden days of movies, it was always before a VHS title. I didn't say that the rules say that a trailer is only a trailer if it's chosen via a menu, nor that they always are selected from a menu—or mentioned on the back cover, only meant that that is normally the case. Like an indication. |

And the reason I replied to you because you called it a "series of trailers". A series of trailers before the menu would still be considered bonus trailers per rules. What wouldn't be added is the studio montage... where they take bits and pieces of several trailers... and edit them together... then have something like FOX DVD at the end. These studio montages (which is what the Rules calls them) do not get included. Rules Quote: Quote:

KinoNiki is spot on; in previous versions of the program the only tickbox was "Trailers". When the distinction was introduced between Bonus and Theatrical trailers the program migrated the "Trailers" tickbox to the "Theatrical Trailers" tickbox and many profiles have not yet been updated to correct this if the original entry actually meant "Bonus Trailers" | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Exactly, that's why I had this question in the first place; I see them as a bonus if they are accessible through the menu, and as commercials when you have to go through them before you get to the main menu. But of course, they are all commercials when it comes to it - that is why the companies put them there. Feature Trailers - A trailer of the film on the disc.
Bonus Trailers - Any additional trailers for other films. Either at the start at the disc, or accessable through the menu? (Regardless of whether they are listed individually or grouped together)
