I have decided to complete my "Images from Movies" site with some HD screen captures from blu-rays.  This can be interesting for people who have movies on DVD and want to see whether it is worth buying the blu-ray.

As another site exists which also shows HD screencaptures, I'll share images from movies that are not available there.

Some of those HD images are already available, and I thank Cyrille to give me enough space on his server to allow this.

List of already available movies:

Alien 3
Alien: Resurrection
Basic Instinct
Ben-Hur
Cleopatra
The English Patient
JFK
King Kong (1976)
Millenium 1: Män Som Hatar Kvinnor
Millenium 2: Flickan som lekte med elden
Millenium 3: Luftslottet som sprängdes
Rio Bravo
Sleeping Beauty (2011)
Spartacus
Stargate
Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith
Terminator 2
Tora! Tora! Tora!

Coming soon:

Titanic and Indiana Jones trilogy

Could you give a HowTo, please.

I always thought that HDCP would prevent screencaps from HD content.
This would be even more interesting to verify the actual Aspect Ratio. In Germany we are currently bound to trust the imprints on the cover.

Thanks in advance.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

One way is to use a program called AnyDVD HD (it's pricey to buy) and then once the disc is "unlocked", you open the movie file in PowerDVD (or equivalent player) and use the screen capture button.

surfeur, if you want to, you can check out my site for some HD screen caps:

A very good site for this which in my opinion is superior to all the other ones I've seen is DVD Beaver. They compare different editions from different countries and different releases so you can judge which is the best. They not only do screen captures, they do audio bitrates and other details. They've been online for quite a long time now.

They currently have 2,102 movies and screenshots online.
99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1."

I do as The Movieman, unlocking the blu-ray with AnyDVD HD (rather expensive, but lifetime licence). I use VLC or KMplayer (those are free players) for screen caps. KMplayer is the best when you want a precise image, as it has a very good image per image forward function.

Off topic, Blu-rays with Extended or Unrated Cuts are a pain to screen cap specific images as they break down the movie files (I presume because of seamless branching). For instance, earlier I was doing some caps for Snow White and the Huntsman and I wanted to get one where Theron was coming out of that white goo (or w/e) and had a hard time finding that scene.

I'll have to try KMplayer, sounds like a good option.

Why wouldn't PowerDVD play the multiple .m2ts-files combined in the order specified in the playlist?

Ahh,
thought so.
Sadly I will be of no help then, since all programs that are capable of circumventing a copy-protection are outlawed in Germany.

Because, AFAIK, in order to play and get screen caps, you have to do it by the file name, you can't just play it normally. It's not a big deal because more often than not, it's just one file but in these instances, they're split up.

I do not own an on-the-fly decrypter like SlySoft's AnyDVD HD or Fengtao Software's DVDFab Passkey for Blu-ray, so I cannot test it myself. But mpc-hc eg is much superior in B-rD structure reading to VLC, or you could just remux multiple .m2ts files into one again, before playing it with any player.

MakeMKV will allow you to create a MKV video file from a Blu-ray and it recommends that you don't use AnyDVD (but I do anyways). It'll list all variants of seamless splitting and creates a combined file without quality loss. Currently free while in beta but you'll have to re-enter a beta registration key every month or so.
