I was sitting here going through my email when all the sudden the laptop just went blank! :o I tried rebooting it and now it won't even power up!  and to rub salt in the wound... there is a DVD to one of my TV show sets in it where I was planning to do some profile updates! So this my be pretty much a goodbye for me. A couple of things to check:
- If you have another compatible power adapter, or (charged) battery, try that for grins. I have seen cases where a bad adapter let the battery run down, giving the appearance of a dead PC, when in fact all that was needed was juice. If you have a way to test the adapter, do that also.
- Take the battery out and see if it will boot up with the power supply only. Could be a rare case of a defective battery causing the power supply to shut down.

I did try without the battery at all with no luck. Don't have any spare parts for that brand around. It may be a long shot, but if you could find a compatible adapter somewhere (friendly dealer or salesperson maybe), at least you could be sure it isn't something cheap and simple to fix. Post #2 of this thread has some tips that worked for some folks. I have experience with repairing a damaged Toshiba power jack - followed a YouTube video. It was an older model, and the procedure is like open heart surgery, so you have to be sure you need it before trying it. | | | Thanks for your support.
