| | Posted: | | | | I added a BlueRay Player to my PC and took out the DVD reader as it was old and not working. I cannot configure DVDPro 3.8.1 to recognise the drive to scan disc ids etc...
Is this a bug, feature or future feature request?
BlueRay players and cutters are relatively cheap and I think DVDPRO should be able to recognise and use them.

| | Posted: | | | | If you have a problem accessing your player in your OS, it could be a hardware problem. Otherwise Pantheon is correct and it is probably a configuration problem (in Options --> System you can choose which drive to use).
The copy protection used on Blu-ray discs should not be a problem, I have a Blu-ray reader / DVD writer in my PC and DVDProfiler reads the disc IDs without any trouble. |

| | Posted: | | | | OK I think I fixed it. Lets provide more facts first. I used to haver a Liteon DVD writer and DVDPRO recognised that under Tools-Option-SYSTEM-DVDROM Drives as drive W:
I am in a middle of cutting my 1500 DVDs to 12TB server, so I installed TWO Liteon BlueRay RW drives. They are identical BlueRay writable devices and the OS sees tham as Drives A: and B: but DVDPRO would NOT.
I just thought maybe DVDPRO does not like the fact that I called them A: & B: as in the old DOS days these were reserved for Floppy drives. Remember I have just used DVDFAP to COPY nearly 1100 of my DVDs so far using drives A: & B: but DVDPRO did not like it
So I just renamed them in DiskManager to drives J: and K: and DVDPRO can see them now.
Lesson learnt.... Thanks for your suggestions... |

It's not just DVDP that might have a problem with that.
My guess is that DVDP did not really implement a search for drives in their software but they use a system call for that and that doesn't seems to return the A: and B: drives. | | | Karsten

Thanks for your support Which OS do you use? Older Windows versions have no compatible UDF driver that supports UDF 2.5 and above. For Win XP you need this: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/UDF-Reader |

Totally agree - often the Bios will check for media in A & B and try to boot from it if present (because if you get a C drive failure it needs to know where to look for your recovery disc). | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
