I had to laugh because I received the email from Deep Discount about their semi-annual 25% off sale and thought I'd pop in here to see what was being discussed. It is what I thought it might be...crickets.

Since DeepDiscountDVD has changed to just DeepDiscount the 25% off "big sale" is just a joke. It is no longer on every item AND they seem to still be higher priced even AFTER the 25% savings. OK, occasionally you can find a good deal.

Am I the only one who basically ignores these semi-annual sales now?

EDIT: I think I'm wrong about this being one of the semi-annual sales but the sentiment still stands.

Years ago, within weeks of DDDVD becoming Deep Discount, their prices started rising. I always checked many online sources for the best deals. Often it was Deep Discount (after Amazon bought CD Now), occasionally Amazon, or another source. But as their prices rose, their delivery became erratic, often waiting more than a week before the item suddenly was out of stock or on back order. Then they began charging my card as I made the order, not when they shipped. Getting refunds and cancelling orders that were not shipping became more and more difficult.

Their sales were never as good as they claimed, even when they were good. Everything I ordered on their sale was out of stock, back ordered. I've ignored Deep Discount for years.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

You can find some good deals on the 25% off sale, if you know where to look. I order a few things the other day from the sale.

But yeah, their bi-annual sale is nothing like it was years ago...

I did get in on a ton of expensive import CD's there about 4-5 months ago. They had a bunch that were under $5 for some reason (not even a sale!) — and these were like $20+ each normally...not just at DD but everywhere else. I saved well over $100+ on that deal, which was nice.

I checked few items and didn't find it as stated above. Not like the olden days.
I'm afraid prices are starting to reflect the economy.

I used to keep a wishlist and wait for these sales to stock up, now I hardly ever order from them anymore. 9 of 10 prices jump at least 20% before the sales, the rest can be beat from other online stores and often local ones too. Plus they don't even have free shipping anymore unless you order 20-25 bucks worth. It's a shame, DD was my go-to store and now I rarely order.
