I find it sad that more and more movies do NOT include their own trailer.  I often buy DVDs without really knowing anything about the movie so having the opportunity to watch the the trailer on the newly purchased movie is a very nice feature. Even if I am familiar with the film, I will often watch the trailer before starting the movie.  I hope that NOT including the trailer doesn't grow in popularity.  For the DVD creators who do include the trailer  APPLAUSE !!

I have always been a firm believer that even "bare bones" releases should have at least one of their trailers included.

I would think the director or producer would push to have the project complete with all parts in atendance.  Without the trailer, it would be similar to publishing an encyclopedia set with the "B" volume.  Perhaps by the time the DVD is ready to be printed, a second rate buffoon from within the bowls of the studio makes the crucial decision with the aid of dice?


Re DoubleDownAgain:  Yeah if a trailer gives the story away, it has gone too far.  Fortunately, most trailers help me form the correct mental image to stay with the story.

okay It may not be perfect .. But I was pointing out that  99.9%  of trailers ( or less ) is available on the net ..

The percentage of trailers on new released DVDs of said title is now what .. 10%  40%  60% ??

I'm sure the biggest reason why the DVD does not carry the trailer is cost and cheaper manufacturing plus survey says not needed not wanted by some sort of inside survey ..

When I buy a DVD or Blu-ray I want the film or TV show or whatever the basic content is. The best feature is subtitles (my home is a noisy one). All the rest will rarely be watched at all. Occasionally I will watch outtakes or deleted scenes. Fewer than 1% of all commentary tracks are worth the first listen... none are worth viewing a second time. Extras get lost... extra animated cartoons, shorts, newsreels... I forget they are there and without a reasonable way to catalog by feature, I never find them again.

The only way I've ever enjoyed rewatching film trailers is for porn, where I don't need to suffer through the miserable dialog to see the good bits.

I want the basic content, and little else. The rest is disc-filler. Play the stuff and give lots of scene selections so I can revisit a favorite scene quickly without fast forwarding.

I understand I am in the minority here and do not wish to spoil anyone else's fun. I just ignore the other stuff and don't compain if it gets left off.

I get upset at the inability to find certain films in anything resembling the correct widescreen aspect ratio.
