Why do we have "Supervising Sound Editor" in addition to "Sound Editor"? Given that 'Supervising' is an acceptable addendum to most fields, and that the 'supervising' version of the credit doesn't get its own entry (eg: "Supervising Art Director" is simply entered as "Art Director"), what makes "Supervising Sound Editor" so special? |

| | Posted: | | | | The 'Supervising' prefix to most fields is relatively new to the rules (the last year or two).
'Supervising Sound Editor' has been around at least since 2007, when i started using the program, as a separate Crew choice. Empirical experience has shown me that 'Supervising Sound Editor' is a fairly common film credit, relative to the use of 'Supervising' on other credits.
The use of the word 'Supervising' in 'Supervising Sound Editor' was probably one of the major catalysts in getting the rules to recognize the prefix elsewhere. | | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
