I was wondering if this is considered acceptable. If so, does that make
Special Effects Crew, Special Effects Technicians and any other Special Effects _____ acceptable.
I always thought it was SFX Supervisor, SFX Coordinator (if no Supervisor) and just Special Effects (by).
I have no problem with them being track, as long as they meet the crew standards. I have hundreds of profiles with them in other in my database. |

So when this is approved and released it will mean all SFX Crew and SFX Group, I believe they are the same as SFX Team, should be allowed. I don't think SFX Technicians fits into the definition of Team (Group, Crew).
The problem is that the SFX Foreman that is credited ahead of any of these Group, Team or Crew is still not contributable. And if a SFX Supervisor is credited, then that SFX Coordinator is also not allowed but the people under him is. |

I would say that while they don't seem to be specifically forbidden, consistency would dictate no. We do not track each possible entry within any other category. It frankly sounds to me like someone doesn't care about consistency, they have found a loophole and trying to capitalize on it.. | | Posted: | | | | This is probably the most difficult crew job section to do... It's the reason why I never contribute that part as I prefer to have the real job name in my profiles (and doing it two times is too much work).
I wouldn't vote "no" at a contribution adding the special effects technicians as visual effects since I include them myself ("Art" / "Other" / Special Effects Technician), but I'm not sure if the rules say that special effects = visual effects.
It's the reason why I've said so many times that this section need to be improve by adding the special effects, digital effects, computer effects and all the other kind of "effects" supervisor / coordinator / foreman / technician to the list with a differenciation amongst the job hierarchy. | | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

| | Posted: | | | | I think the wording should be changed in the crew section to SFX Supervisor & Coordinator (Co-ordinator for the GB films) should be listed at all times, even if both are listed in the same credits. And if neither are listed than SFX (by) which would cover the older films where they listed just the main person under the SFX credit. |
