I couldn't find this topic in the forum, that's why I post a new one.

I like to know, how I have to manage cast-members who play different parts.
As example Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act plays Dolores and Sister Mary Clarence.

Thanks for your answers.

You list them as they are credited in the end credits. If they are credited twice, list them twice. If they are listed once with the roles separated by a slash, list it like that.
If the second role is not listed at all in the credits, add the actor again as uncredited with that role at the end of your cast list.

We handle it the usual way: "Exactly as credited"
With one minor exception: If the roles don't fit into the datafield, you may open  a new one for this cast-member.

The example chosen is not a too good one BTW, since in fact "Dolores" and "Sister Mary" only describe one role.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I don't understand these 2 answers.

If the second role is not listed at all in the credits, add the actor again as uncredited with that role at the end of your cast list.

With one minor exception: If the roles don't fit into the datafield, you may open  a new one for this cast-member.

I would say that these are completely wrong as written.

what roles wouldn't fit, what datafield (credit roll?) open a new one (list as uncredited with documentation)?

I understand ateo357's answer, but rather than getting into a discussion about that, the simple answer to the question about Sister Act is:

You would add Whoopi Goldberg with a role of Sister Mary Clarence, tick the uncred box and place her alphabetically in the uncred section at the end of the cast section. Personally, I would not enter it at all because it's just an alias within the film to protect her true identity. Even when she's "The Sister" she's still Dolores.

FYI – I popped in Sister Act and watched the end credits and Whoopi is not listed anywhere as Sister Mary Clarence.

I think Lewis_Prothero means: If the role(s) listed in the credits extend past the character length limit of the data field, then add a new one immediately following the first one and continue there.

(Although I'm not sure this is correct, it seems to be a common convention rather than a rule.)

So in the film Joe Dirt, Christopher Walken gets the credit roll name (Clem) but can also be listed uncredited for the other 2 names he uses (Real name from Jersey, new name at end of film)

Only if he plays 3 different roles, but I have to admit I've never seen it done this way with (uncredited). Personally, I don't like to list people as uncredited if they are actually credited, even if it's for another role.

It is the same roll. Same as Deloris / Sister Mary Clarence.

Then he should only be listed once, as credited.

I've seen that with animated film credits. I just didn't understand what he was saying, the way it was written.
to vague of answers lead to confusion and incorrect data being entered.

Thanks, that's exactly what I meant.

No!
In this case you wouldn't, at least not as long as you wouldn't enter Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman exactly this way in Mrs. Doubtfire or Tootsie.

Dolores is Sister Mary
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
