Doing some research for another thread I ran into an interesting problem:

The credit is "Sound Effects Design".

Strictly by the rules this would be incorrect, on the other what else is there to design on sounds than the "Effects", so isn't basically any "Sound Designer" a "Sound Effects Designer"?

What do you think?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

As a rule if the word Effects is in anything to do with Sound I ignore it - irrespective of what other words are in the job title.

The "Other Hobbies" option is not expedient.

Is there any "official" "Sound Designer" vs. "Sound Effects Designer" job description?

I'm so tempted to choose the third choice

But as Neill said sound effects aren't a jobs section we profile (at least the database don't), so "sound effects designer" isn't more profilable than "sound effects recordist" or "sound effects editor" would be.

Indeed. As is so often the case, this is exactly the person we're after, but unfortunately, a strict reading of the crew chart doesn't allow it.
