The database shows this UPC as also having a DVD copy, DiscID 5893247827BAD389.

The copy I just received today from Amazon has the exact same UPC, but only the Blu-ray disc.

Is this just a UPC re-use issue like WS/FS for some titles?

Yes.  Before all the rental stores went belly up around here I'd often see the same thing, same UPC minus the DVD.

It's annoying as the cover art is usually altered as well, so if you want the correct scans in you have to do it yourself.

Or if youa re lucky you could find them at Mithi's alternate cover art site: http://dvd-cover.site90.com/

But I checked and that isn't on the site.

It's curious for me because as I scan thru the Amazon listings there are no 2-disc listings for Blu-ray / DVD.

ASIN: B006K10WJ2
EAN:  0883929235353

Is supposedly for THREE discs.

Where did all the original 2-disc packaging go?

Blu-ray.com only has two listings for it in the US, a one disc set w/ digital copy and another SteelBook.

Is the database wrong?  The Canadian version says it is a Blu-ray & DVD.  I think I have it, but different UPC and it's a Canadian release i got used from a video store.

Are you in the US?

I purchased this on release day and, while it is not listed on the case, it did come with a DVD.  The DVD is a 'combo' disc that contains the DVD version and the digital copy...only the digital copy is mentioned on the case so that might be why Blu-ray.com doesn't mention it.

Like almost all things released these days, the first run had a slipcover and digital copy disc inside (dc only mentioned on back of slipcover). Those sold out, now it's just the blu disc and no slipcover. This happens with every title that gets a digital copy or slipcover.

Just re-read and will trust the Madmartian. Kinda strange they wouldn't mention it on the cover, are you positive there is a SD dvd version of the movie on the DC disc? I only ask because I have others where the DC says it's a dvd on teh disc, but is only the DC in reality. I went to look at mine thinking I had the DC disc, but I don't for this title.

Yeah, it says something along the lines of DVD / Digital Copy Combo Disc.  I am at work, so will double check when I get home, but that is what I remember from checking last night.

I often use DVDProfiler as an additional source to verify details of what I'll be purchasing, since there's so much wrong information out there.

We know about the UPC sharing between the WS/FS and now DVD combo packs with or without digital copies. We know about differences in packaging (with/without slip covers).

I wish we could come up with some system of warning flags to attach to the initial database entry to indicate that there are version differences out there.

I don't know how it should work, but I wish there was some way to know that for a particular title, I should take particular care what was actually coming.

We do need to be careful when buying movies these days and DVD Profiler won't always be accurate as it'll only track the initially released version of a UPC (before the studio removes slip covers, changes cover art, drops DVD or digital copies, etc).

If you're buying from Amazon, if the Blu-ray still comes with the digital copy or DVD, they usually list it like:

Movie Title (Blu-ray/DVD Combo+UltraViolet Digital Copy)
My DVD/Blu-ray Collection

Just looked over the copy I have, and I can't see on the cover where it mentions DVD Copy.

It is a DVD/DC combo disc.
