That seems to be the case on the Chinese films I have, it seems to be based on the production company. Some are nice enough to spell it out on the cover. As I've written before in another thread, "Chinese" doesn't exist as a spoken language. There are several dialects of it, including Cantonese and Mandarin, that sound completely different from each other. The written language, however, is the same for all – though it has been altered into two forms: Traditional and Simplified. Most DVDs from Hong Kong and China, for example, include both. |
