This is currently set at...

Title: Garfield
Edition: 2 Movie Collection

But sitting here looking at this release I think this is one of the times the 2-Movie Collection may be part of the title.

So should be...

Title: Garfield 2-Movie Collection
Edition Blank

Thoughts?

I would do as you say Pete. No edition is needed for that as it isn't a different edition of this film but a set with the two of them. I even bet each of those discs are the same than their individual counterpart.

Of course if the films would be on one disc my song would be different...

Why would the number of discs make a difference?

Nope... a 2 disc set. It is indeed the same discs released individually.

Even if I decided this was correct for this title (I don't yet)... it would have to be at least changed to

Title: Garfield
Edition: 2-Movie Collection

As there is a hyphen on the case... and it must match the case.

But so far anyway... I am still thinking it belongs in the title in this instant.

Why would the number of discs make a difference?

Because that would be a different DVD than what is already in the database. Adding them by disc id will bring the individual release of each film, so it isn't a different edition.

But in that case (and this one) it is determining the title of the box set parent, potential child profiles for different films are not part of the question, unless I am missing something

You are correct the dash would be needed.  But I do disagree (based on the majority of what I have seen) that "2-Movie Collection" is part of the title and not edition

Here's how I see it.
Title should identify the film(s)
Edition should identify different editions of the same film(s)

Just putting "Garfield" in the title would then be misleading. Remember that one of the possible display settings excludes edition and just displays title (plus possibly original title).

With that setting, you wouldn't know that this DVD contains more than just "Garfield".

Thus, in my opinion, the title must be "Garfield: 2-movie collection"

Agree with Gunnar, with the remark that per the rules the Edition field can be used to name collections of releases as well. But since this is just one release - no other releases are part of this particular collection - that option does not apply here.
