I'm sure I'll regret asking, but I'm doing the crew for "LEGO Batman: The Movie" and at the end of the end credits there's "Music Score from 'Batman' written by Danny Elfman". His theme was used in the movie (in fact over the opening credits) but other cues were used as well.

After his credit is "Superman Theme" written by John Williams but that seems obvious getting a "Theme by" credit. But what about the other? Is it a composer credit?

I would say no, since it was from another film and not original to LEGO Batman.

I agree with the others.

For the "Superman Theme:"  it is not the Theme of the given picture, so no credit for Williams either.

Yeah, both were used originally for another feature so not valid at this time.

A theme is almost never original. In fact it is usually the whole purpose of a theme to reuse it for a sequel. series or remake. Are you now going to exclude all non-original themes from Profiler? Then what exactly is the purpose of the theme by credit? (Note that unlike song and composer credits the rules say nothing about having to be an original work.)

I don't believe the rules state a theme necessarily has to be the movie's main theme, and as iPasta stated, themes don't have to be original. Still, I don't know if I'd include it for this case myself (having not seen this video).

The rules do not require that it be the theme of the given picture.  It is the only piece of unoriginal music that the rules allow.

'Theme By' is valid for Superman Theme. Sorry, my mistake.

With regards to the theme, it's only heard, in a comical sense, when Superman shows up...

I did not object because it is not original, but because it is not the theme of the film.

Is the intent of the Rules for "Theme by," to credit any piece of music identified in the credits as a "Theme?"  I don't think so.

The Theme of a film is that which is identified with the work or series of works.  Given The Movieman's description, to say that John Williams wrote the theme for LEGO Batman: the Movie, would be grossly inaccurate.

As I said above, there is no requirement that it be the theme of the film.

I don't know what the intent of the rule is, but if the Superman theme is used in the film, and the writer of that theme is credited, why shouldn't we include it?

But the rules, as they are written, do not ask for the writer of "the Theme of the film," just the person credited as 'Theme by'.

^ Yeah, I got all that.  Seems the rules are lacking somewhat in this case, no?

I guess it depends on what one wants.  I have no problem listing John Williams as the writer of the Superman theme.  Locally, I would use a custom role of "Superman Theme written by."  Yet another reason custom roles should be contributable...they give credits like this context.

I can agree with all of that except submitting the Superman theme written by credit as simply Theme By--which is clearly wrong.  Since we can't provide the context, the credit should not be allowed.
