I'm still working on my submission of "Flight Check Fighters" (011301622945), and after many hours of research have much more complete information than when I started.
As mentioned before, Timeless Media Group had nothing to do with the content other than making and distributing the DVD. The instructional documentary shorts were made either by the United States Army Air Forces First Motion Picture Unit or similar units from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Bell Aircraft Corporation Motion Picture Division, Curtis-Wright, and Republic Aviation Corporation.
In several cases, outfits like Timeless Media edit out the opening or closing credits and splice these things together willy-nilly. Since these documentaries are in the public domain and available on Youtube, I've been able to compare the originals to what are on the disc and now have much more complete production company information.
So I think I'll be covered by the multiple features on same side of one disc rule.
Do I credit these shorts appropriately, even if the credits have been clipped off by the distributor?
I guess I go with the running time as edited on disc?
As for production credits, I only have three slots per disc. If I have three general titles / chapters per disc, do I give one to each, as in for disc one, one credit for the P-38 Lightning, one for the P-39 Aircobra, and one for the P-40 Warhawk? |

The disc presents each fighter in the form of a chapter. On the 2nd disc, the chapter on the P-47 is actually three different training films spliced together. - How to Fly the P-47 - Ground Handling, Take-Off, Normal Flight, Landing, @21:39 switching to ... - How to Fly the P-47: High Altitude Flight and Aerobatics, @ 41:56 switching to - P-47 Combat Operations (narrated by Ronald Reagan) The second and third title credits are "in-line" as these three are spliced together and run continuously. I think it would be reasonable to handle these with episode dividers. |
