I did a search but didn't find an answer to this:

I didn't lock a contributed profile, so I lost all the info during a refresh. If the contribution is not approved, is there any way for me to get the contributed version back so I can update it?
Thanks for your support.

If you didn't do backup before refresh, no, at least not by any automated way. Of course you can see what you contributed (if it's still pending) and use that that for a referense to enter all info back manually.

BUT, if you uploaded your collection to online db before refresh then you can:

1. Backup your db
2. Download your collection from online db (this will bring the info back, but it will also write over all other profiles too)
3. Restore all other profiles from backup you made in #1 except for that profile in case.

Thanks for that, but I will probably decide to just forget it. No way I am typing all that stuff back in. As a newbie contributor, I forgot about the locking. So be it.  (And thanks for the subsequent tip).

To avoid same mistake in future... Open any profile to edit mode. Bottom left corner check "Automatically lock all changed items". This will apply to all profiles, not just to the one you used to check it.

another tip of course is NEVER just accept all changes - I always preview every change and individually select which changes on a profile I will accept.

When you select the update it initially selects all the changes but I always right click on the preview screen and unselect all profiles. Then just go through them one by one

So you always just blindly accept all changes?

Yep.

I lock certain things - titles, genres and covers - but I happily accept all the rest.

Yes. I'll bet the most typical users do - I'm surprised you are shocked. In the special case of protecting a contribution that I personally prepared, I would have made an exception - I just forgot, which was clearly established up front. 99.9999% of the changes I make to profiles are to personal information, which are automatically protected.

Looks like the profile was partially released. So my cover scans, disc ID and a few other items got preserved. But my carefully typed Overview was lost. I really did try to get it right. Bummer. Guess that finally ends my contributing career. Can't seem to get the hang of it. Since I got no feedback to guide my future attempts, I'm likely to make the same mistakes again.

The fields I want to protect I keep locked, the rest I accept directly. I review all changes when I vote on them so it's rare that there will be any surprises. And since it's even rarer that I have to vote no, I can usually remember those even if they are accepted and released. It would be nicer if the program remembered them for me though.

Sounds like you forgot to tick a few boxes. Remember you need to mark all fields you want to contribute (unless its the first contribution). I still forget to check a few of them sometimes. (I miss a check all feature.)

I think iPatsa's right and you forgot to tick some boxes, however rather than give up why not submit an update and let us know, so we can take a look and give feedback? For the paranoid amongst you I'm not suggesting we actually vote on someting we don't own, just take a look at the contribution and feedback here or via PM.
