Shouldn't Jones the cat have a credit in the movie "ALIEN"?

Is he listed in the credits? if is listed in the credits should be added to the profile. Don't matter if it is a human or animal cast member.

If not listed in the credits they can be listed as uncredited... but IMHO you would need more then you seen them in the film.... as I don't know how you would determine for sure which cat it is. So if there is something like a mention of the cat in the extras or something as solid as that... I would accept. But not just saying it is a certain cat because you visually saw him in the film.

Agree with Pete.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Cat has no credit on the film.

I have a strong suspicion that the cat's real name probably isn't "Jonesy" at all.

Unless it's mentioned in the features then it should probably be a local only credit. The cat did turn in a good performance, just not sure how many others it did or what his/her real name is.

On a related note, that dog from "The Thing (82)" acted circles around this cat and never got credited either!   I think only more "exotic" animals get credits, like bears or monkeys. Cats and dogs are so much more common and much easier to train I would guess.

I have seen lots of credits for dogs at least. None come to memory for cats.

And if it is verified in the features what the cat's name is there would be no reason why it shouldn't be contributed... with notes pointing to the special feature it is mentioned in of course. In such a case I see no reason it should be local only.

From the contribute rules.
For any film with standard credits, take the actor information from the end credits only, with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.  Exception: If the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead.

Is a Dog, Cat, Monkey or what ever kind of animal it is if they are listed in the standard credit then they are actor and can be contributed.

Yes, we not only have birth years for both actors known as Bart the Bear, but also a birth year for Trigger (Roy Rogers horse).

We need birth years for the other actors known as Trigger - a cat in Ginger Snaps II, a dog in The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie, and a different horse in Moondance Alexander.

As far as the OP goes, I had a devil of a time getting Trigger's uncredited appearance in The Adventures of Robin Hood approved.  Had several no votes just because he was an animal actor.  What I learned from that is that you need more than a personal ID for animal actors - not by the rules, but for the voters.  If the cat has other credits, and you can verify him in this film, and there is something to back up your verification (such as a mention in a documentary or featurette on the film), then by all means add the cat.  If you don't have these things, it's going to get iffy on the voting.

This brings up an interesting question about what is eligible for an uncredited role.  Let us take King Kong (1933) as an example.  A stop motion puppet named King Kong was credited as "The Eighth Wonder of the World", and we know he had scenes with several of his peers in the film.  Should we be able to include them as uncredited actors?

I'm just sad that the cat actor who played Jones is dead now.
99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1."

He has an uncredited role listed for Around the World in 80 Days.

Another that comes to mind in this vein is Robby the Robot.

Unfortunately there are numerous examples of equipment being credited as actors.
