Hi all!
My first post here.

I do not know how to contribute a box set I just received. Invelos db already has the box set profile, but it is incomplete (it hasn't got the movies included; perhaps someone else faced a similar dilemma as I am facing now).

The box set is an Australian R4 release "Death Wish The Vigilante Collection" (EAN: 9-317731031489) published by Sony in 2006 and contains all five Death Wish movies in their uncut form (5 discs in a plastic keep case).

Death Wish 1 and 2 are R4 Australian releases (from an earlier digipack release). No problems there - I can find them by disc-id from the DVD Profiler db.
Death Wish 3,4 and 5 are apparently R2 releases re-released as R2, R4.  Each of the 5 discs have a matching labels printed on the discs themselves so these are clearly not just discs dumped together from where ever.

I'm thinking I should create and contribute alternate locality profiles for Death Wish 3,4 and 5.
If I do so, I need to remove existing EAN (since the movies in this box set have only disc-ids), alter description (since each movie has only a short blurb on the back cover of the box), remove front and back covers of each (since only the box set has covers) and add Sony as a MC (apparently Sony hasn't distributed this in other regions). As far as I know, all the other information remains the same. Is this what I should do?

There are also additional difficulties arising in completing the box set profile. The box set profile lists a selection of subtitles, but they are not uniformly applicable over all the movies. Perhaps they should be removed altogether as they are misguiding? Also the box set profile (and printed on the discs themselves as well!) says Region 4, but three of the movies are actually R2,R4. How is this supposed to be handled? Perhaps the box set profile should not have a region code at all and only the included movies have region codes listed?

Can you find the disc id profiles, when you put them into your computer? Doesn't matter (for now) if they are a different locality. Add them to your collection, and link them to the main UPC profile (9-317731031489).

When you've added and linked them all, you have to change the locality of each of the disc id profiles. Select the profile (Death Wish 3, for instance), go to menu DVD -> Change Locality -> Select Australia -> Press OK. If the profile already exists, you will see a message. If it doesn't, you have successfully created an Australian locality.

Next up, change all the info that are relevant for this particular release, such as case type and overview. SRP currency should be AUS$ 0.00, and the release date and the cover images should be the same as the parent profile.

If there's accurate crew and cast info, that's a bonus! If you want to update more info, go right ahead. But if you're not sure about some fields, just leave them empty.

If all goes well, all 5 discs in the box should have locality Australia.

If you followed the above steps, this won't be necessary.

The parent box set profile should not contain the following info: features, subtitles, audio tracks, crew and cast. Leave these fields empty.

For region info, check the child profiles first. If they are all R2+R4, so is the box. If some are R4 only, and one of the discs is R2+R4, make the box R4 only. Never take the region info from the box. Use a tool like DVDinfopro or DVD Decrypter or Nero Infotool to get actual region info.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes!

Thank you. The box set profile already had subtitles and such so I'll just remove those when I make the contribution that has the movies included in the set.

I just checked that Death Wish 1 is coded as R2,4. Death Wish 2 as R2,4,5. Death Wish 3 as R2,4. Death Wish 4 as R2,4. Death Wish 5 as R1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.  So changing the box set profile from from R4 to R2,R4 is a safe bet.

Pretty good contributions!

A few improvements, aside from the region info:
The title of the box set is Death Wish: The Vigilante Collection. Edition and original title field should be cleared.
Check the color option (in the features tab) for each movie.
The media company for the all entries (box + child profiles) is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Sounds like you are already on the right path here, a little list of things to check and or change if you clone a profile.
