Hi,

I'm doing an audit for 'Seven Years in Tibet' and I got a problem with some credits.
I can't find any info about first unit credits. So I want to ask before I add them or leave them out of the profile.
This is the situation how they mentioned all credits.

Begin-credits
* Direction >> 1 credit
  - Director
* Writing >> 2 credit
  - Original Material by
  - Screenwriter
* Production >> 6 credit
  - Producer
  - Executive Producer
* Cinematography >> 1 credit
  - Director of Photography
* Film Editing >> 1 credit
  - Film Editor
* Music >> 1 credit
  - Composer
* Art >> 2 credit
  - Costume Designer
  - Production Designer

End-credits
* Cast
* Art >> 1 credit
  - Visual Effects (Special Effects Coordinator)
* Sound >> 1 credit
  - Supervising Sound Editor

These credits are no problem to add according the rules.

Then there is the following situation with credits I don't if I can add them:
First Unit (Argentina)
* Sound >> 1 credit
  - Production Sound Mixer
* Art >> 7 credits
  - Supervising Art Directors
  - Costume Supervisor
  - MakeUp Artists
First Unit (Canada)
  - Sound >> 1 credit
    - Production Sound Mixer
First Unit (Austria) >> No valid credits

Then there are credits that shouldn't be added:
Second Unit
* Sound >> 1 credit
  - Production Sound Mixer
Himalayan Unit
* Production >> 2 credits
  - Producer
  - Executive Producer
* Cinematography >> 1 credit
  - Director of Photography

Then there is the post-production section and these credits are no problem:
Post-Production
* Sound >> 3 credits
  - Sound Re-Recording Mixer
* Art >> 1 credit
  - Visual Effects (Digital Effects Supervisor)

After these credits they mentioned 'Filmed entirely on location in Argentina, Canada, Austria and the Hamalayas'.

What can/should I do with the first unit credits? Do I add them or should I leave them out of the profile?

Grts,
Mitch.

In my opinion, they should be added as they are valid credits.  A strict reading of the rules will tell you that they can't.  Whether or not you want to fight that fight is up to you.

All films have a "first unit" don't they? It's just never (well, almost never since you found one) mentioned.

Yes, all films have a first unit and, no, they aren't usually mentioned as it is a given.  In this case, it seems that they mentioned them because they also hired second unit crew in some areas and wanted to distinguish between the two.  For the one area where they only hired first unit crew, they simply used the location name.

I would include all First unit crew and post-production crew, not the second unit.
