For example Marvel.

Is the title?
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season
or
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season

Hmm, Per the rules I would almost say:

Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season

Personally in my local DB I would go with "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season" Since that is what it was in ads on TV and such.

The rule that's the closest to addressing something like this is the possessives rule:

Quote:
Include possessives if the front cover includes them, and if they are verifiably part of the title. If quotes surround the title in the credit block (generally on the back cover), check whether the possessive is within the quotes. In the absence of quotes to verify, check the font size used for the title on the front cover. Generally, possessives which use a significantly smaller font are not part of the title.

Well, I can't find a back cover, so I haven't been able to look at the credits block yet. But based on the latter part of the rule, referring to the font size, I think I wouldn't include it. Size and style of the company logo clearly set it apart from the actual title. But it would be interesting to see if there's some form of credits block on the back cover.

I wouldn't think it is part of the title. Other titles that I have - Thor: The Dark World not Marvel: Thor: The Dark World or Marvel's the Avengers not Marvel's the Avengers: Marvel or Marvel: Marvel's the Avengers. If it's used for 1 than it can be used for all the others. And then there is original titles that have the logo with it that can now be contributed.

Need to think big picture. Is it really worth it.

If you want to keep all your MARVEL's together, prefix the Marvel in sort field.

That is what I do; example all the Agatha Christie based film's and TV series. There is absolutely no consistency what so ever in these DVDs even by the same producing or distributing companies.

I doubt that what ever clown created the DVD covers considered the DVD profiler or any other means of cataloging them.
