I know that there are a couple of different versions/UPCs of this season, I have UPC #8 83929 19147 5, which have no child profiles attached to it in DVD Profiler.  Seasons 2 & 3 have child profiles, but not this version of Season 1 and I have no idea why.  I just added the discs manually and attached them to the parent but they have no profiles.  I wish I had time to go through each disc and add the profile information but unfortunately I don't.  Maybe one of these days but it probably won't happen anyime soon...

My three-fold question is this:  Doesn't anybody else have this version/UPC of the first season of Game of Thrones in their collection(s)...am I the only one?  Why weren't child profiles ever created for this first season?  Somebody took the time to create them for the second and third seasons, why not the first?

Can I submit the contribution(s) for the children I scanned and attached to this parent, without profile information?  Or do I just delete these until somebody comes along who has the time and the wherewithal to create them?

Thanks.

I would simply load 883929229949, detach the child profiles and add them to my parent.

Maybe the contributor doesn't like child profiles. Or he has no DVD-ROM to read the Disc-IDs, which would explain their absence from the parent profile.

There is no minimum on contributing AFAIK, so as long as everything that you do contribute (Title and the scans of the parent I presume), why not?

How do you "detach" the child profiles from a series?  I see only Assign and Remove as options.  Wouldn't Remove eliminate them altogether?

Also, wouldn't the disc IDs be different since by entering these discs by IDs and failing to download any profile data for them, it would seem to indicate they were in fact different, would attempting to contribute them be erroneous?

Just download the Series 1 with the child profiles; go into the profile's Box Set Contents tab and Remove the child profiles. They will not be eliminated; they will instead now appear as non-Child profiles in their own right in your collection so you can go to the Box Set Contents tab of your version and add them as children.

Now just delete the Series 1 you downloaded (that used to have the child profiles associated)

It won't remove them from the original profile for other people as you haven't submitted it to the online database.

It's hard to tell but the disc IDs are most likely the same anyway and it's just a subtle packaging change... the same discs often get used in multiple releases PLUS you could run a quick check of just the IDs if you have a BD drive (as you imply you do in the original post).

If you put the discs in your drive, and they did not come up as profiled, odds are your discs are different.

What you can do, assuming all the data matches, is download the existing child profiles and use the change UPC feature using the inserted disc as the replacement.

Went with Mithi's suggestion, downloaded/transferred child profiles from 883929229949 (the only release of S1 w/ children) edited profiles/scans to suit.  Glad I finally have child profiles for S1 even though the disc IDs are most likely incorrect, it's a small enough matter under the circumstances although I won't be contributing these for that reason.

Thank you Voltaire and MM for your help as well.

Still can't comprehend why "they" would go to the trouble to create child profiles for S2/S3, yet leave the standard release(s) of S1 unfinished.

Oh well...

Maybe "they" who did the child profiles own the same version as you of S2/3 but a different version of S1 than you?

To my knowledge there are 3 different releases of S1 on DVD (you have to own at least 1 of them in order to comprehend what's going on in S2 and S3): 2 standard releases (1 of which is no longer available), and a Limited Edition (fancy) release which was the only release of S1 to get child profiles.  No one ever contributed child profiles for either of the 2 standard releases of S1 which I'd be willing to bet are in abundance in DVD Profiler's collections.
