Every profile I have personally downloaded so far has always had (BD)... I would not change that now.. would vote no to any change to (Blu-ray) at this point. I said the same thing in the last thread that brought this idea up.

I've never seen BD, the built-in Media Types read DVD and Blu-ray, so we also use DVD and Blu-ray in Description.

Never saw BD for Blu-ray. BD has a different meaning (Bande dessinée), and existed long before blu-ray.

I don't own a computer that reads Blu-rays so I have never entered that data...but that doesn't mean I don't have a preference! 

I prefer Blu-ray.

BD is fine and I always vote "yes" when the data is entered that way. But, I find that "Blu-ray" looks better to me than "BD" when I'm comparing the two.

I agree with that. We should use in DvdProfiler the same terms that we use in normal language, which are generally the correct ones. That is also why I'm for "Taxi 4" and not "T4xi" and "Nymphomaniac" and not "Nymph()maniac", and why we should use correct letters for names to avoid totally different pronunciation of names. This would avoid a lot of variants for titles/names/descriptions...

As Ken has stated, the rules can never cover every situation, nor should they. They are a basic tool that covers many, if not most issues including the title issue you bring up.

When an issue is not directly addressed in the rules the forums, voters and screeners will need to make the topic clearer. Of course there will be people who don't agree with the end result but at least a decision is made.

Back to the original issue in this thread, I don't really care how this data is entered. Based on my collection BD is how most, if not all, of them have been entered.

DVD and BD works for me. If not, like any other field, I can always change my data locally and lock it down. With the exception of Titles and Cover Scans, I don't really care what the rules or community decides.

About colour/color, one is correct on an English Zone 2 edition and the other on an American Zone 1 edition. There is no ambiguity about what is correct or incorrect.

All you need to do is search the forums and you can come up with hundreds, if not thousands, of issues that demonstrate the futility of expecting a "perfect" database.

What is "correct", "right", "perfect" etc. for one person, might be exactly the opposite for another.

I understand your frustration and, in many cases, agree with your viewpoint. But, after so many years and hundreds of posts and requests, Ken doesn't seem likely to ever fix or further address any of those issues.

The continual rehashing of the same types of issues over so many years was the impetus in my comment on the "Is there ever going to be an update?" thread which can be applied here:
