For 3.9, we'll go with one of the two options shown here.

I don't get it the "Metal Case" votes... why not have both?  I mean if you don't care than don't worry about contributing them if you can't tell the difference.  But to those of us that collect SteelBooks there is a BIG difference between the two.

I'd be fine if there were a custom option, to type whatever we wanted in for your local, but you wouldn't be able to contribute it of course.

After all this time it seems wrong to remove Steelbook. It's a popular and well established collector's item. So I voted for both, althoug in reality I would prefer status quo, that is Steelbook and Custom.

Agreed, it would be taking a step backwards IMO

Fr4me gets added but SteelBook get's removed??

I can live with both, but please, let's not make it any more difficult for inexperienced users to contribute than it already is.

There are many people who collect Steelbooks who regard other metal cases (like MetalPak etc) as 'inferior' and certainly would not want them in their 'collectables' so I think for them it is important that DVDP identifies Steelbooks as separate items, especially if it's relatively easy to implement as simply an extra option in the case type list.

Even though I am not an avid collector myself I realise it is very important for some users to be able to identify the difference (you only have to visit the Steelbook Collector's forums on somewhere like Blu-ray.com)...
As to not knowing the difference and making it harder, as with any contribution it's not a mandatory detail, and there are plenty of sources online with detailed images if you want to find out (plus you can probably trust it's a Steelbook if advertised as such as otherwise the site advertising will be swamped with collector complaints!)... I confess I'm going to have to look up what a few of the other new case types look like (and am more than willing to; doing Fr4me as I type this!... Update; well that will make contributing agreed on cover images fun ) as I haven't even heard of them until now; this is just the same.

In the same way that to many people it's not important to know if a release has or had a slipcover (and indeed, lots of people just throw them away), to those who collect them and who go as far as buying the slip individually off Ebay or trading forums if it is missing on the release they bought, this info is important and I don't think we would remove that from them in the same way as removing info about Steelbooks from collectors would be wrong.
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

While they seem similar to average joes, metalpaks bug us OCD types with their subtitle yet very pronounced differences from steelbooks. Keep both as options, it's more worthwhile than keeping HD keepcase/HD slim which is even less difference IMO.

I hate the spines on metalpaks! They are ugly and look nasty on the shelf, and for this reason I avoid them. I only own Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in metalpak, mostly cuz the front cover was so nice and the spine was among the least ugly I've seen on a MP. Oh yeah, and I had a bunch of rewards I could only use at Best Buy.

I disagree with that. HD slim (very different from HD large keepcase) is much more important for me than all those metal boxes, that I avoid in my collection as much as possible (generally, I have just to wait a few monthes to avoid those awful metal boxes). So do as you want with metal, but keep useful data, please.

I voted "Metal Case" because I want it as simple as possible. I also want just "Plastic Case" for everything plastic etc. instead of all those different "codes" for different cases and boxes. This can be very difficult to understand especially for new users.

This would imho be much better, so people could save all their special wishes and variants in the local db. Like I wish I could specify eg. "Amaray 11mm".

I never said replace the HD slim option with MetalPak, just have both for both as to me this is more important.
Of course I guess it doesn't matter that much. I already know what case is what without the program telling me, and I can't even look up things I don't own as enter by title gives me nothing but errors (I've re-installed 5 times and it won't fix on my desktop, but does work on my girl's laptop. ), so I can't even use it to check something I don't own and haven't seen in person.

The more options the better and more correct everything is. Add metalpak, keep everything else.

Maybe it is me, because I am already confused about all these case types, but it seems that a lot of people here are talking about "metalpak" and not "metal case". I thought that "metal case" was meant to be anything metal and not another name for a specific type of case ? Or is the poll options meant to read "metalpak" instead of "metal case"? Still confused ? Huh

For me it is because a double is giving redundant information. A SteelBook is a MetalCase (in the sense of "a case made of metal") just with a trademark.

Next logical step would have to be to differentiate between KeepCase and Amaray, EcoPack ...
followed by having to split up the the different widths of HD-Slim
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Actually a Steelbook is made of both metal and plastic. Whereas a Metal Case is just that, a case made of metal.

As I asked in the other topic, when does a case become a box or whatever?

Under this change would the following be a Metal Case or remain custom?

What about this? Metal Case or what?

Then you have tins such as this.

Will the size of the case determine it's case type or the material used?
