I got an odd "no" vote in a contribution.

Without going in to specific names...

You have a box set with a title of

Movie 1/Movie 2/Movie 3 Triple Feature

When I received the boxset, the children were

Movie 1 Triple Feature

Movie 2/ Movie 3 Double Feature

For the second disc, I created a variant and altered both profiles to reflect the single movie so I would have

disc ID  Movie 2
Disc ID+var  Movie 3

I removed the Edition from the title of either movie

For Movie 1, I removed the edition (Triple Feature) and submitted it as.

Disc ID  Movie 1

For this I got a no vote.  stating "Nothing in the rules states that the edition is not to be included"

Now, I have never included the edition in a child profile, unless it was a separate packaging, or something directly listed on the disc.

I am not wrong on this, am I?

I would think that the alt. disc id., would still have to be associated with the triple feature release. and the double feature id's with the new alt. disc id's would have triple feature in the edition field now, matching the DVD release packaging.

I'm with ateo357 and Kathy on this. I'm confused by variants.

I have Lilo & Stitch and Lilo & Stitch 2 on Blu-ray and DVD in a 3 disc special edition. The Blu-ray has both movies on it and the DVDs are separate. All well fine and good, but I would have expected Lilo & Stitch to be the first with Lilo & Stitch 2 being the variant, but it's not so. I have tried everything, locally, to make Lilo & Stitch 2 the variant, but it can't be done without going to manual profiles which defeats the purpose of variants.

This is me... For me it depends on what the edition is... sometimes it fits and sometimes it just don't fit.

I would have removed the edition from the children as well.  While this is not specified in the rules, in this case, the 'Triple Feature' edition tag belongs with the parent, because it is a triple feature box set.  The individual films are not triple features, so should not have that edition.

if disc 2 is the same as the double feature id. Then wouldn't it be Disc 2 Variant (3) Disc 2 Variant (4) because the double feature should be Disc 1 and Disc 1 Variant (2) (but the same id as in the triple feature edition (disc 2)) The double feature was released first. How would you know what variant went with what release unless you had the edition with the disc id. You would have the cover art which is the Triple Feature Edition.
