Eureka: Season Three (3.0 and 3.5 combined) was in the database, but no children and no back cover scan.  I attempted to remedy this by contributing a back cover scan and children, and edited the parent Overview to include episode info.  I don't know if I was successful or not.  First I downloaded the profiles for 3.0 (Disc 1 & 2 only) and 3.5 (Discs 1 & 2 only) then tied them to the Season Three parent profile, contributed the new parent, then attempted to contribute the 4 children.  The contributions for the 2 children (for 3.5) were apparently successful because I edited their Overviews to also include episode information, but the contributions for the 3.0 discs 1 & 2 were rendered Incomplete Submissions, apparently only because there were no changes made to those 2 profiles.

I was unable to add the 1st of the 4 children by disc ID, DVD Profiler told me it was already in the database (even though it wasn't) so I gave up on that.  Instead I looked them up by title and added them that way.  I'm fairly certain they are the same discs that are in 3.0 and 3.5 separately so the data should be correct.

I was so sure I would be able to finally add Child Profiles for Season Three, I don't quite know what to do at this point.

Did you make variants of the childs? If not please cancel your contributions, you are trying to overwrite the child-profiles for the existing 3.0 and 3.5 set!

You have do make variants of all existing child profiles and tie those to your new parent profile.

How do I make variants of the existing 3.0 and 3.5 discs?  Why would I need to since they are basically the same discs from the individual seasons tied together for the complete Season Three?

This section of the contribution rules describes when variants (alternate versions) should be used. It also contains a link to a how-to page.

In this case they should be used because the discs are part of a different "box-set"; art-work, release date and other information differs.

E.g. the backcover-scan you provided will have the UPC of "3", while the child-profiles are linked to "3.0" and "3.5" which have different UPCs.
Also release-date and overview can differ. This is exactly the reason why alternates/variants were introduced in v3.9.

Finally got a day off, tried to create alternate versions of these children and contribute them.  Contribution refuses to complete because apparently there is nothing to contribute except a change in cast/crew that I did not make.  I give up.  Someone else is going to have to create these variant children and apparently that's not going to happen anytime soon or it would have been done by now.  This whole concept with "variants" baffles me.

Just bought the Percy Jackson Double Feature on BD which is not in the database (2-Discs of both existing movies) that will apparently fall under this new "Variant" rule so it's going to have to go without children as well.  Used to be I could create these without issue, not anymore.

I can see why fewer people are contributing, too many new rules, confusing as hell to the average person.  Too many cooks in the kitchen...

Oh well, I'll have my children, they won't be correct by DVD Profiler's rules so I won't try to contribute them.

Not necessarily, this depends on whether the Disc-IDs of those two already are used as Profile ID
