| Posted: | | | | Hi, I have a tablet and smart phone both of which have the latest beta Ver. 1.2.4 build 65 installed. Somewhat ironically, voice search works on the tablet but not on the phone. The tablet reports Android Ver. 4.4.2 and the phone simply 4.4. When I select Search on the tablet and the keyboard is visible I see a microphone icon on it and can voice search by clicking on it. On the phone the mike icon is missing. Am I overlooking some needed software or do I need to enable something on the phone? I'm new to both the phone and the tablet. Jim F. |

Well, never having thought of voice search in the database, I said WTH and gave it a try. Gingerbread 2.3.4/5 and version 1.2.4 build 65. The microphone "key" is there on my phone, and voice search works. I'm not sure why it would be missing on your phone. the microphone is an ANDROID feature. If it works as far back as Gingerbread, it may be a phone, of Android version issue. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi again, Missing microphone problem solved. By default there's a key shaped rather like a gear which, when pressed, brings up various keyboard settings. Among the selections is one to allow "Voice input". Selecting this does not allow voice input! By holding the gear shaped key a window pops up and allows selection of either the gear or the mike icon to be displayed. The voice search then works fine. It appears that the selection is maintained. Jim F. |
